Miami mirroring 2023 Michigan

The more I see this team - the more I like the Michigan 2023 comp.

- Dominating D that dictates the game and let's you always play from ahead
- Highly efficient passing game (Miami is more explosive)
- Highly efficient run game (neither were/are very explosive)

Florida, the run game picked up for the passing game. FSU, the passing game lifted up the run game.

A Defense that'll kick the sh*t out of you backed by a highly methodical/efficient Offense.

Michigan's running backs were alot more explosive than ours which is the biggest difference between us and that Michigan team. Corum and Edwards were capable of breaking a big run at any given time. None our of running backs move like this...

I would argue that our trio of backs + the freshman will make us just as explosive as they continue to get more healthy and more experienced. But, to date, I agree with you.

Michigan benefitted playing a weak Washington team. If Mich goes up against some of those juggernaut offenses under Tua, Hurts, Trevor, Fields, Burrow, etc. they're not winning it all.

Our offense is far more like Georgia from 2020-2022. In fact Mario said he hired Dawson to emulate the Monken offense of Air Raid but power run game.

Think u are underrating that Jesse minter defense that year, still one of best scheme in NFL right now.. but what they did that year on defense was **** of impressive..

I don't like the comp tho overall, that mich team played CLEAN every game, they barely made mistakes.. we have the turnover but close but we are too penalized to be same.. THEY RARELY MADE MISTAKES.. that's what made them difficult.. also I think beck can be better than McCarthy

100% agree with you - Corum & Edwards were definitely more explosice than our RB's now.

But in 2023:

Corum averaged 4.8 ypc. He was 9 months off an ACL and not as explosive as his 5.9 & 6.6 ypc the two years before.

Edwards averaged 4.2 ypc. He was 7.1 the year before.

4.8 & 4.2 are way below average - but they stayed ahead of the sticks like we've been doing.

Hopefully we can stop comparing ourselves to whatever recent national championship team that has basic football similarities?
