Miami Makes Offer For Brendan Sorsby

That's insane $$. But a lot of that stuff is clickbait
Yeah agreed. He's prob gonna actually get around $4M.

People keep acting like the price is going up for players which is true but only slightly.

The reality is last year budgets were probably close to $15-20m. This year maybe closer to $30M. I doubt this will ever exceed $35-40M ish... So like there is a max these players will ever receive. ...

we’re running third here, but he never wow’d me. Honestly, every QB will have their flaws. I want the one with the most upside, and I’m not quite sure Sorsby has that.

Remember every QB in the portal has flaws. Cam Ward was described as streaky and that he fumbled and took too many sacks. You have to project QBs in the portal as their system fit is more indicative of future success than past experience is

He’ll get more than $4mm. It just takes one guy who makes that in interest every week and wants his ego stroked to open the checkbook.

I agree but after watching that bowl game… tech needs to re-work that entire offense to have a shot at playoff run or they’ll get bounced first game against a physical team.

He plays fo UC....he's not worried if he plays for a NC. These kids care about that offer. If they play meaningful games while making a mint, it's icing on the cake.

What someone is worth isn’t based on cis evaluations.

Luxury brands have known this for years. It’s not what something is actually worth but instead what someone is willing to pay for it.

We are witnessing is universities coming to the realization that football is a more powerful branding tool than academics ever was. Miami rode that wave and then abandoned it for fear of scandal.

Louis Vuitton monogram bags aren’t even worth 40$ in material and labor costs. But it’s what that luxury market is willing to pay for that sets msrp

The illusion of value. So important.

Pete or D$ can verify this but there’s a hefty amount of incentive or contingent components within these NIL contracts. So when you hear figures thrown around within the media, 90%+ of the time those are the absolute maximum amounts if they cash on everything

Also, it’s VERY hard to get reliable intel on these deals, so take everything with a grain of salt the size of Cortez Kennedy

This is patently false. CIS sets the market rates and everybody knows that

Who do you like if you had to pick?
Raiola #1 amongst candidates that have entered, provided he’s expected to make a full recovery off the injury.

Best arm talent, highest ceiling, better pro prospect than Leavitt, Sorsby, Lagway, Bailey etc., high completion % with one of the worst P4 OL’s in the country, decently mobile at times. Willing to push the ball down the field, but is very good at taking checkdowns. Ensure him adequate protection + a WR1 caliber deep threat with Toney underneath, and we’re cooking. Would absolutely love to bring Jacorey Barney home too if we can.

The pomp and circumstance doesn’t bother me. Ward was ****y. Beck had questions off the field and in the locker room. Didn’t matter, clearly. If Mario signs off, he’s earned the benefit of the doubt.

If Simpson enters, can’t go wrong with either imo.

No chance. Who would pay top 10 pick money for a guy that won't go top 10?

He would go #1 at Miami and be a Heisman favorite from day 1. Yeah I would pay top 10 money for Cam Ward 2.0, but with better wheels and more ball security. His NIL more than pays for itself after making it to the cfp semifinals.

Except Cam got like $2-3M, which is the point.

The NFL has a salary cap of like $330M/yr right now. NIL budget is likely going to be MAX $30-40M next year. That's 1/8th the budget for CFB compared to NFL. Meanwhile QB in NFL gets max $60M, which would be at the top in FA even. Meanwhile the #1 pick is capped at $10M year 1. Well 10/330=3% of the cap. It has zero logic to pay a guy as if they are already a top 10 pick when they have no alternatives really. If they want to get payed like a top 10 pick, they'd enter the draft. So Artificially these guys should have an absolute ceiling created by the NFL Rookie Salary cap, unless you're literally paying a lock 1st rounder to return - which Sorsby isn't.

There is no way a CFB Qb should be making MORE than $5M this year. That should be the ceiling.

Correct. Beck’s agreement is an example.
