MIAMI LANDS NO.1 2026 PROSPECT JACKSON CANTWELL

Great work and great point. For what it’s worth, my philosophy is, if you know it’s a high character kid and you do your HW. AND you know that they have 5 star talent you go all in. Try get 3 “day one” guys a cycle and evaluate your tail off on the rest. You literally can’t overpay for guys like this IMO.
Mario and Mirabal can start a ripple effect by getting Mauigoa and then Cantwell as 3 and done players. It’s going to be an easy sell for future players

The domino effect of this addition is going to be very interesting. Hope it carries over to the defensive side of the trenches.
Wishlist/Best case (realistic) scenario, I assume is something like:
RB - Derek Cooper
WR - Tristen Keys and Calvin Russell. Then like 3 of Jase Mathews, Somourian Wingo, Zion Robinson, Jayden Petit, Jabari Brady, Jasen Lopez.
TE - Heze Kent, and a more pass catching type as well.
OL - Keep all the guys we have and add as many of: Keenyi Pepe, Johnnie Jones, Tommy Tofi, Breck Kolojay, Cannon Pickett

DL - Need at least like 4 guys honestly. Lamar Brown and James Johnson are probably the top 2 Defensive targets on board as a whole followed by trying to flip Tomuhini Topui and landing Vodney Cleveland. Probably Want to Flip Jermaine Kinsler. Maybe Freddie Wilson. Will probalby add in a 3star or two here as well.
EDGE - Not sure we have all that much traction with top guys. But we are loaded at EDGE and have other big needs, so not surprising. I'm sure we'll fight for Kreul. Probalby want Jaquez Wilkes and Asharri Charles. OTher than that IDK.
LB - Keep campbell and Land Malik Morris, Maybe flip Karon Maycock from FSU. JJ Bush out of Bama.
CB - Try to add 2 of Justice Fitzpatrick, Chauncey Kennon, Rodarion Jones.
S - I think we need like 3 Safeties. We should try to get one top guy for sure, like Jett Washington out of Gorman. Maybe we can work to flip Aydin Pouncey. And think we're hard after Cortez Redding and Blake Stewart out of Georgia.

Narrow shoulders.
Smallish hands.
Short arms.

This guy is a bust.
The small hands and narrow shoulders yet he still has a 500 pound bench press. Kid has Olympian bloodlines. And Will Johnson from LSU just went 1st round with shorter arms so its not a disqualifier to being effective. Let's see how he adjusts to P5 competition when he shows up to Greentree next January.

His brother also plays at the school and they have taken care of him, Honestly I thought we had the inside track for awhile but then a USC buddy of mine told me what they have done for the brother/family.

Just say this unless the check bounces he ain’t going anywhere

Maybe the coach bounces?

Let's circle back later in the season...

Bench pressing and playing football are two different things.

Let’s see how this story unfolds.

Nothing personal, but I will wait and see. I personally have no idea what they have done for his family. Has your buddy talked to you about their NIL issues the past few years? Surely, he has heard something. He should also be aware of their stipend versus NIL closing issues when their classes keep falling apart in Nov-Dec. I do think Chad Bowden going there this year will help. I still question if he can change those issues and they have to start winning more. They certainly can't go 7-6, again. I haven't given up on Pepe. I also don't see Xavier Griffin or Elbert Hill. I could be wrong on all of my thoughts. I do want us to still keep recruiting those 3 through Dec.

This is EXACTLY what happened.
He flip flopped like normal in his insider scoops... but did he ever change his prediction even after all the VERY heavy UGA smoke? I think I saw he didn't... which when you have the big crystall ball dawgs putting in their picks over last week, is noteworthy...

However, I doubt he knew anything himself lol. I think our staff thought they had him a month ago and then just feigned weakness when he extended it. But I think they would have been happy having him announce back then as well. He wanted to make sure he was making correct call and take last min visits and we were confident that we could make ourselves look good by beating UGA in big moment finish...

Which hey it all worked out, so great job! All that matters is the end result there.

I do think we want to make sure we don't try to drag this stuff out to play game much though. Especially with like Poly kids. I want to get those guys locked up ASAP. No silent commits and trying to setup a nuke a month away. If they tell you they're coming make them announce it publicly....

You have his measurables?

I put it in the locked thread but yea this is such a smart move from a smart kid from a great family. Take the $2.5 mil guaranteed, enjoy MIami lifestyle for a year or two while resting/possibly redshirting and transfer to an SEC school after to then get to enjoy that college atmosphere/NCAAF playoffs.

After that be a lock as a top 5 pick in 2029 NFL draft.
Unhinged behavior to have almost 300 messages on a forum of a team you don’t root for.
