Miami lands commitment from 2027 OT Tyler Ford

"He's kind of made-to-order for what Mario Cristobal and Alex Mirabal want to do up front," Ivins said. "A big, downhill tackle that really shines as a drive blocker at this stage. We had him verified at over 6-foot-5, 325 pounds last summer, and he has done a really nice job of reshaping the body.

"After spending much of his sophomore year at right tackle, he worked on the left side as a junior for a Gainesville squad that played for a state title and showed noticeable growth as a player. There's still plenty of work left to do as he has to keep progressing as a pass protector, but I think what's notable is the fact that he just turned 17 years old, meaning that he could technically be in the class of 2028, and he's at a high school that's foundation is built in the weight room."

My son is 17 and is about to finish Spring Football at Univ of Hawaii. Measuring currently at 6’0 1/2 230 playing RB. I wish i would’ve known about people holding their kids back lmao. My son would’ve been a 5 star like all those other 18yo 2027-28 kids lol and smdh.

I was brought up in the era where you play up to show that you can hang. Now its hold back to pick on those smaller than you lmao smdh.

We are expecting him to have a big year in the Hawaii Run N Shoot. Look out and pray for #28 this season braddahs. Hopefully, it’ll be enough that Miami hops into the portal for him lmao. Obviously its his Dad’s dream lmao.

He is a guard all day.
Guard is lower value. You always train guys with OT potential builds there regardless.. if they hit they hit.. there is almost never a real large issue with a guy starting off at OT then moving to Guard.

And this dude almost certainly isnt playing year 1.

If we get Mathews I don’t think it’s set in stone he starts day 1 like Cantwell. But if he did Guard And especially Center is obviously the big holes on the roster 2027 -2028/9…

Dope

There is a middle ground where financially it absolutely makes sense to be older in HS. If doing so gets you a large NIL deal, but your probably not a true nfl talent… that’s how you’d maximize you me actual football income. But ultimately the cream rises to the top, and if you produce you will make money.

For most hs players it’s prob best to be older… it’ll be interesting to see how this new era effects age and draft age…

Yeah, i agree. Get the money while you can comes with an asterisk * lol. I just thank God, my sons body continues to develop. He gave me his body composition stats a couple days ago and i was blown away for his body to be so developed at a young age. But then again i am not, because i know the work we put in with his trainers on and off season. As well as what we did to take care of his body. This life is def not for the weak and lazy lol.

We are def betting on ourselves and will see how this season plays out.

Good reason to watch: Hawaii opens vs. Stanford. He can soften 'em up for Fletch.

Thats AWESOME man, CONGRATS.. Is he inline for early PT? Miami will definitely see him play as Hawaii opens with Stanford week 0 and Miami plays stanford next week, they will be breaking down that film closely..
