The Miami Hurricanes are back on top of college football. For the first time since Dec. 8, 2002, the Hurricanes are the No. 1 team in the country in the AP Top 25 poll.



Following one of the craziest weekends of college football, where the No. 1, No. 2, No. 4, No. 6 and No. 7 teams all lost, the top 10 is looking pretty different this week.

The Miami Hurricanes survived against the Florida State Seminoles, winning 43-35 in overtime. Miami moved up two spots from last week's poll and is now the No. 1 team in the country.

 

Anyone saying this is meaningless is off base in my opinion. Notre Dame hasn’t won a title game since 1988 but between Brian Kelly and now Marcus Freeman, they have consistently been in the conversation. This program is legitimate again. Its only meaningless if we don’t continue to build, dominate recruiting etc but its absolutely helpful in terms of us getting to the promised land. There could be a Jeremiah Smith, Patrick Peterson type talents watching right now and can no longer say “i left because i wanted to go somewhere where i can compete for a title.

 

Does this mean it is official?

 

Sounds great but let’s not celebrate too long. Lots to fix but man what an accomplishment considering where we were just a short time ago.

We got a tough Pittsburgh team coming up. Hope that keeps them focused

 

Mizzou lost 31-3 and is still borderline top 20, only in the SEC.

Mizzou, UF, and Texas all need to be outside the top 25. They have had some brutal losses. Bama and LSU need to be somewhere in the 20-25 range. I'm fine with the rest of the SEC rankings: UGA, Ole Miss, Tenn, UK.

At least they dropped Miss State out of the top 25 after that embarrassing loss.

 

The long time fan base could care less about the #1 ranking….two things can be true at the same time,

They do cuz we need a top 4 seed and that #1 ranking will do just that. We don’t want to play 4 games in the CFP.

Even so, as noted in the other post, you could pick anyone in the top 10 at this point and they could have just as probable a chance at being no. 1 when it’s all said and done.

Let’s face it, the names at 1, 2, and 3 in this week’s AP, represent the weakest and least convincing names at the top of any poll since the democratic presidential primary of 2020.

Wake should be a top 15 team and maybe even top 10. They're legit and I'm not sure I want to see them in Charlotte. They figured something out in the 2nd half.
