2012 we had 21 bluechip recruits

Horrific
The 2010 class had 7 blue chip players. The 2011 class had just 4. So 11 total in two years heading into the 2012 season (and of those 5 were gone within 2 seasons).

In 2010 and 2011 we attrited a total of 69 blue chip players from the roster. Simply put, Randy Shannon was unable to recruit at the same velocity to replace his outgoing players, and the collapse of the 2011 signing class virtually guaranteed that numbers were going to collapse in 2012.

We actually have 82 guys on scholarship. 74 on the current roster, plus 7 guys who haven’t enrolled, plus Walker. Remember Manny put 5 guys on scholarship in March. I didn’t count Moise because I assume he won’t be here in the fall.

I DON’T WANNA HEAR NO ONE ON HERE TALKING ABOUT HOW WE HAVE NO TALENT!!!! Time and time again idiots keep coming on here saying that BS and time and time again they are proven wrong!

Bro; I think back in 2014 or 15, I composed the talent we had accumulated v. the entire ACC Coastal, and then I threw in schools like Iowa, ISU, KSt, Wisconsin, Baylor, TCU, Oregon, OKSt.

Listen man; our problem has not been talent. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: our problem has been culture, and that culture starts from the top. Look at our last two Presidents, look at our last two ADs, look at our current assistant to the AD, look at our BOT, look at our coaches. (In fairness to Richt, he took the job b/c he was given a once in a life time opportunity to relive his OC past, and more importantly, work w his son. He was a standup guy for walking away knowing his time had come & gone).

We’ve had plenty of talent, talent that any capable coach would use and dominate the Coastal. Ppl truly underestimate the value of coaching & leadership.

I'm including the 2020 commitments as well as returning players. As well as Clay James, Marshall Few, and Michael Parrott, who are now under scholarship.

Would feel more comfortable with 1 more RB, WR, TE, DL, LB. But considering we're operating at probation-level scholarship numbers it's a nice rooster overall.

I think our highest draft pick the last two years was in the 4th round. We have talent on defense and TE/RB. The problem is we didn't have talent on the Oline or at QB, so we couldn't get the most out of our talent at WR,RB and TE

Yep, we may get some Top 15 or so classes but when it is said and done they leave here as marginal NFL players at best lately.
Recruiting rankings tell you the talent you accumulate from HS potential, the NFL draft tells you how that talent turned out in college.
We are not that talented is the bottom line and we do not make the talent we get better at Miami.

Sitting at 78 is an overblown nbr. The current team has about 70 guys that can play, contribute at the level needed to win at best. Being short of 85 and having 10-12% dead weight is brutal. This is all on James and Diaz...

You lost me. What did the school President and AD not do? The President hires the AD and the AD hires the head coach. Are we blaming this on facilities and/or the coaching hires. Those are the only things the President and AD affect.

Let's not forget that from 2011 - 2015 the program was under a cloud with Nevin Shapiro. The NCAA wound up taking some scholarships and the program was on probation. That killed recruiting. That's a big reason why our blue chips dropped.

Yes. 2012 was Al Golden first real recruiting class, and like any new coach that first class tends to be strong. And while Golden did well under the circumstances (9 blue chippers), he needed a Top 5 sort of class. The NCAA investigation, still fresh kept Golden from achieving that. And when "the cloud" finally lifted, recruits had three years worth of Golden results to judge. And so we had okay classes, but not the sort of numbers needed to get back up into the 30s.

It wasn't until the 2018 class under Richt that we finally went back over 30 blue chippers.

Do they handout more 4 or 5 stars year to year? Just wondering.
That's a good question and I'm not sure of it. I've wondered if there has been some "grade inflation" taking place over the years, or if 247 has been relatively consistent.
