Don’t see Curtis or McLaughlin or mammareli

No surprise at all. We were at 84 according to Gojira's spreadsheet last night, not counting punter, kicker, Cloyd and probably a PWO or two who gets put on scholarship. Don't we have a long snapper on schollie? So probably at ~88 counting those guys. Cut three more and we're right at 85.

After 20 years of failure, we finally have someone who knows how to manage a roster.

Is Luis Cristobol Jr. on scholarship or a PWO? It seemed like everything I read when he committed implied that he is on scholarship, but wanted to double-check.

I think the general sense is that if we have a token to give him, he'll get the scholarship. Otherwise PWO.

Updated to include the departure of CB Graves and the addition of linebackers Rocky Shelton and K.J. Cloyd.

Shelton and Cloyd's ratings reflect high school rankings. 247 has not yet updated to reflect transfer ratings.

Interesting side note - this may be the largest recruiting class that Miami has ever seen. In 2023 we have signed 40 players (although technically it was 39 when you include Roberts going back into the portal).

More notes:

  • Miami now has 23 transfers on their roster. Exactly the same number as Florida State.
  • Florida State signed 11 transfer portal players in this cycle. Miami signed fourteen
  • Miami's portal signees have an average college football experience of 3.3 years. Florida State's is 3.5 years
  • The Shelton and Cloyd signings boosted Miami's linebacker room to 11 players. That's the second highest that it has been in the last ten seasons (we had 13 in 2021). All time record going back to 2006 is in the 2008 season, when Randy Shannon signed nine linebackers in that class and carried a room with 14 linebackers.
