"Miami homer on steroids" Bruce Feldman predicts 2019 ACC season

The love of UVA is mind bending. It is such a contortion of reality that I find myself pushed into another dimension every time I see it in print, only to be pulled back once I look away.

We play them at home on a short week. C’mon mane.

They had a good defense last season and most of it is returning this year. They lost a Safety and a couple LBs. There's a chance they regress a bit but I expect that Defense to be as good or maybe even a little better.

Couple that with an offense that seemed to improve as the year progressed and a young QB that was reasonably good but with a lot of room for improvement and you have an adequate case for the preseason hype.

I just don't believe UVA will be able to survive the pressure our D puts on them in the Rock and with marginal improvement in our offense we will score enough to secure a W. Could be a huge game for us as far as National perception because UVA could very well be a top ten team if they knock off the domers in South Bend two weeks prior.

If Bronco M keeps the momentum, watch out.

He is a very good coach and organizational leader.

His Mormon faith (and personality traits that go with it...NOT ATTACKING..just fact) holds him back from bigger jobs. He needs the right culture fit (with employer) to succeed as well.

I don't get the hype that VT is getting. They're an absolute dumpster fire and their roster is a mess. UVA will have solid coaching, but lose almost half of their offensive production with the departures of Jordan Ellis and Olamide Zaccheus. There's no reason we can't go 10-2. 9-3 should be the minimum.

How you figure ? Their defense was horrible last year and they had ALOT of players transfer out including their starting QB

Jackson is gone but Willis started the final 10 games for them in 2018.

They won't be great by any stretch but Miami/UVA/VT are pretty even imo.

If Miami has 1 or less losses coming off a win @home vs VT that place is going to be lit on a Friday night. Wouldn't want my money on UVA.

Their defense has the highest % of returning production in the nation: https://www.sbnation.com/college-fo...9-ncaa-football-returning-starters-experience

A lot of those transfers weren't that relevant. Give Foster returning production and experience and he has a track record of over performing; albeit with Beamer at the helm. Miami should be the better team but people are pretending like VT is going to 100% suck, seem to be ignoring history.

Never looked at UVA's schedule. Their best win was against USCe in the bowl game, not including us. LOL.

They lost their leading rusher and receiver, and their OL is young and will most likely feature a walk-on at center,

The only thing that makes sense here is that the picks are all over the place. It's the fcking coastal, anything can and will happen.

I heard Feldman on a podcast. He said 9-3 is because of schedule and it’s a smoke and mirrors team, similar to 2017.

Said we have serious problems on offense and need 2 seasons of top 15 classes to be a legit contender.

Sure. They can return 96% of "producers on defense," but what was the value of that production last year? As historically embarrassing as our offense was for us last season, that VagTech defense was for them. At least in our case, we made coaching changes and brought in a coordinator with a more modern approach. They've still got Bud (sans Beamer) on his retirement lap.

VagTech's defense allowed 453.1 yards per game last year (No. 104 in the country).
Allowed 31.0 PPG last year (No. 85 in the country).

Prefer yards per play as a more relevant stat? Me, too. VagTech allowed 5.5 yards per rushing attempt last year (No. 122 in the nation) and 6.4 average yards per play overall (No. 115).

Defense is more about just yards per play and points, though. How many opportunities did they create for their offense? Not many. They forced 1.5 turnovers per game last season (No. 69). Beamer Ball is dead in VagTech.

Yeah, I am totally fine letting them roll out that same Swiss cheese defense this season, only with fewer experienced reserves because of transfers.

Idk maybe im missing some information but Virginia isn’t that good. If we had any pulse on offense last year we would’ve blew them boys out.
