I'm sorry, neg me all you want. Maybe its too much logic for some if you to understand. Maybe some of the media are being too realistic for some of you. Golden and his staff are not perfect. But I still view it as he's in his first season of freedom. Questionable decisions by the staff on gamedays are bothersome. But its not realistic to be as perfect and dominant as some of you expect us to be in his 4 years here. Why don't some of you couch coaches apply to be head coach and try to recruit under an ncaa investigation. So what Herby supported Shannon too, look how much coaching turnover we had under Shannons program. Those kids learned a new system and terminology pretty much every season of Randy's tenure. Stop bullshi**ing yourselves. Programs don't win big during an NCAA investigation and bowl bans and recruiting restrictions. Especially when they can go play for FSU, LSU or BAMA. Thats a business decision. It doesnt matter who grew up in south florida and who grew up loving the canes.

Hey, Mr. Logic, Alabama was on probation when Saban took over. They had actual scholarship losses unlike what we got. How long did it take to get them turned around?

they were also 10-2 2 seasons before saban arrived.. they weren't terrible in the dumps like we were.

So my post is basically directed at you then. They were actually off probation the year Saban took over. The only punishment they ever received during his time there has been vacated losses. Alabama hired the best coach they could get at the time in 2007. They took a NFL head coach and brought him back to college and made him the hightest paid coach in football at all levels. Look at the staff he put together in his first year at BAMA. We hired the coach from Temple and allowed him to bring his buddies. Logic would show that you pay for what you get. We also have been under investigation 3 of the 4 years our temple coach has been here. Why do some players, national media and other College coaches and NFL coaches feel like Golden and his staff were dealt a bad hand but they're improving? They dont have to make a comment.

Lots of guys said after Shannon it was a five year rebuild. They may have been dead right. Tough to build championship depth sooner than that after recruiting tanks.

Herbstreit definitely has love for his alma mater (as he should and as I expect all UM alumn to have), but let's remember he had to move his family out of Columbus because of death threats made against him AND his family, so he is far from a Buckeye honk. Many of you know that but conveniently forget it to further your agenda. Additionally, he consistently backed UM during the Shapiro situation when many, if not most talking heads, were throwing out death penalty bs. He has also clowned UM for our lack of attendance at games to which I have had issue with. He has been wrong on a number of occasions and been right on a number of occasions (as is very common when trying to predict the future). Now I'm not a part of his fan club or a member of his family, but let's not act like he's anti-UM. The only thing he did wrong was not go along with the "fly the banner" crowd. I disagree with attaching the word "great" with Golden, and I laugh when attaching that word to No D, but what if he's right and UM is about to challenge for an NC? By the sound of it, many of you would be upset because you're a "real 'cane's fan". I don't care what national pundit likes or hates us nor do I care who's on the sidelines, just bring me #6 now! If Golden's not the guy to do that, then I'll drive down from Ohio to personally escort him out. Now I know many of you won't be able to see past your "fly the banner" rhetoric to see what I'm saying, and I'm fine with that. But I hope that Herstreit is right on this one even if it means Golden gets the credit.

Over the past 4 years we've out recruited GaTech, Nebraska and Louisville. Please, tell me again how our recruiting tanked.

You're a dishonest piece of ****. Stop posting. The season before Saban got there, Alabama lost SEVEN games. So they were actually worse than UM was when Golden took over.

2005 10-2, 2006 6-7, 2007 7-6, 2008 12-2, 2009 14-0

By all accounts, those two seasons should have KILLED recruiting, and yet somehow Satan was able to go undefeated 3 years removed from a losing season. But yeah, had nothing to do with him as a coach and recruiter. Jimbo did the exact same thing at FSU without the 7-6 first year.

Edit: I would also note that Shula was fired after going 10-2 the season before going 6-7. Didn't get that one more chance to do well. Nope. FIRED.

I've agree I Al quits who's his replacement? I think we get worse on the recruiting front he's a good recruiter. I'll give the man that much.

If there was a season where he could rely on talent to win 9-10 games, this was that year. The fact that we're sitting at 6-4 and have to win out the final two plus the bowl to reach 9 wins with this team tells me it doesn't matter what talent he can bring in, he's going to cost us every year either a division title, ACC title or more. He will not get the job done. He's that bad.

Why don't we also look at how some other schools did before their NC winning coaches got there:

UF was 7-5 before Urban got there. NC in 2 years.
FSU was 7-6 before Jimbo took over. NC in 4 years.
OU was 5-6 before Stoops got there. NC in 2 years.
USC was 5-7 the year before Carroll got there. NC in 3 years.

The list goes on and on and on of great coaches who were able to quickly turn around schools that were in the dumps. Golden can't even win double digit games. He can't win the division. He can't beat FSU. He can beat a ranked team once in a blue moon. Know why that is? It's because he sucks. Not because he hasn't had enough time. It's because he sucks. He's a loser that cannot win on this level, and anybody who supports Golden at this point is the equivalent of a Penn State cultist.

Over the past 15 years I've heard Kirby say just 1 time that a coach needs to be fired. Guess the coach and the school...

Lots of guys said after Shannon it was a five year rebuild. They may have been dead right. Tough to build championship depth sooner than that after recruiting tanks.

(Raises hand) I said from the beginning that this was a 5-6 year rebuild. The entire roster and culture of the program had to be fixed. Relationships with local schools had to be re-established.

That said, AG has still failed to show that he can win a big game, among a laundry list of other valid criticisms. The jury is definitely still out on whether he has meaningfully addressed any of the issues above, although there's certainly an argument to be made for some progress in those areas. He still has a lot to prove to me and this fanbase. The question is whether he runs out of time before the University gives up on him.

He literally has everything left to prove.

I guess that depends on your perspective, but "a lot" is a lot, you know?

If herbie had said it's time to fire Golden, they would all be talking about how right he is, and there's proof etc.. since he doesn't agree with them, "what does he know".

LOL that's great.

Why the F*CK are we talking about Urban Meyer and Pete Carroll? Seriously?

Pete Carroll had been an NFL HC.

Meyer had been coach of the year and won BCS bowls before going to UF.

Jizzbo was the "HC in waiting" at FSU for YEARS and secretly running the program while Bowden was the "figurehead" before he retired. Jizzbo got to make all his mistakes and learn the ropes while Bowden got all the blame for it. And he STILL didn't win SH*T until he found a Heisman winning QB and caught lightning in a bottle.

Golden is the 42nd highest paid HC in Division 1. This job is not going to attract the "hottest coach in football".

You want results in 2 years? Come up with 5 million a year for UM to pay an HC. Otherwise, its going to be a minimum 4 year process with an "up and coming" mid majors guy. Regardless of if/when Golden is sh8t canned.
