Miami Herald Article

It's long past time to clean house with the football program. Three straight inept and clueless hires have ruined a once elite program. Richt has a right to get rid of this losing culture and hire whomever he wishes. Get rid of the STINK that's been this program since 2001. It's long overdue.

Who cares, if the old players give a **** about the U, maybe they can start forking over some money to help get this team a stadium in tropical park or someplace closer...
They can still train with swasey in any gym they want,

Wonder who paid for the new locker room...

Just relax. When someone gets fired or dies, everyone has nothing but nice things to say. Give it a week.

I got no problem with Swasey being let go, but he was hardly a main source of the programs problems the last several years. Self-inflicted wounds, sky high number of penalties and terrible play calling have nothing to do with Swasey.

What about the last 10 years of getting our **** pushed in? Was that not his fault either?

Our players have become progressively weaker and slower over the last 10 years. It was time for a change.

He is the poster child of incompetent under qualified staffing that went on over the last decade at the U...

How do you even write an article like this and not even acknowledge the lack of certification aspect? You can still slurp the dude but at least mention it. I'm willing to bet she wasn't even aware of it.

Nonetheless, with Richt's track record of almost all of his former players hating his guts we shouldn't expect him to embrace our former players at all. Firing the glue of not only this program but the entire athletic department and its entire history in Swasey will prove to be a move that did in ol' CMR before he even coached his first game.....said no sane person ever. Let The Great Purge continue!

One thing totally missing from the threads (at least I have not seen it) is one name: Tony Bosch. If your Mark Richt or Mark Richt's agent, you perform your due diligence (they are not Fataweenie Alfredo and his agent being "blindsided" by something that was in the Herald months before (Shapiro) you signed) and know the following:

- Swasey was at UM during all of Bosch's dealings

- Bosch's office was right across South Dixie from Swasey's

- You don't know what else were NFL players coning down for beyond Swasey's easy workouts, but you do know the NFL PED regime is much looser than MLBs

- UM panicked and tested the baseball team for PEDs after the Bosch story broke

- Lazaro (Lazer) Collazo, former UM Coach, indicted in the Bosch affair

I wouldn't be suprised if Richt made sure that he could deal with the whole S&C, not just the guy assigned to the Football team (currently Cols Collas) when he negotiated his contract. He is no fool.

Hmmm. Interesting connections.

If he didn't pass his certification really the only option was to fire him. I don't understand the sympathy for the guy. He is horrible

Oh. Miami couldn't get him a certification like getting Tim "Ice" Harris a degree? Yup. The Golden era is crumbling piece by piece. Sledgehammer.

Despite their dismay about Swasey’s departure, the Moss brothers said they like the Richt hire very much and will not stop working out at UM.

“We’ll be part of UM forever,’
’ Sinorice said.
“But Andreu Swasey will be truly missed.’’

As was expected!
This is the attitude I hope most have. Swasey was obviously an extremely popular guy and a big part of the team, but most players and coaches would understand the business side. I don't think this is something that will linger at all. People just showing their support for a guy that had a ton of friends.

Sounds like mental toughness and discipline to me, you can find alot of coaches/people will tell you those are habits developed in offseason. No one coach other than head coach has as much influence on ALL the players other than swasey as he has his hands on all position groups and has players longer than anyone with access to them from Jan-Aug.
