Miami has offered DT Edgar Cerenord

So what if he's just for depth? Our current depth chart contains guys like Earl Moore and Corey King...this dude has better tape coming out of HS than either of them. This kid doesn't look like an elite guy, nor will he ever be one. That's fine though, he can still contribute if he chooses to come here. Now don't get me wrong, I'd obviously much rather have an elite DT, but those guys are incredibly difficult to evaluate and get. Time will tell though.

SO you actually think we offer a guy this late in the process for depth? If you really think Golden is the organizer we all think he is, you know this isn't a depth issue..this is a we losing someone issue

The guys we "lost" were Johnson and Pelon. They probably had a number of DTs they wanted. They missed on those JUCOs. There moving on to other options.

Nope....this aint my first rodeo brother...watch and learn
Yeap you don't replace an immediate impact JC DT with a 2-3 year down the line project like Cerenord.

You do if you can't find another JUCO DT that is interested or can get in.

not crazy about this offer, but not going to judge that based off his offer list when the consensus top DT in the nation this ssn had offers from Pitt, Akron, Rutgers and Toledo coming out of HS

That's the exception....not the norm... if you want to live on that 1 in 25 chance that he can become a dominate player so be it...I aint mad a t ya

at this point if he turns into Teraz McCray hes better than what we have

I aint mad at this offer after watching his highlights.

I see a DT that closes on the ball fast as **** for his size, once he sheds the block he's instantly on top of the QB. He uses his hands well to manipulate blockers and actually uses different moves to shed blocks. He is shown playing both end and nose when they go to a three man front showing good versatility.

I like how he finds the ball well even when engaged, there were multiple times where he was fighting through an OL's shoulder only to see the ball, rip through to the OL's other shoulder filling the gap and making the tackle without losing ground. On top of it when he gets there he puts mother****ers on they ***, he was cracking some skulls on that highlight.

At the end of the day he wasnt at the top of our list but I cant be mad if we get him. I like what the film shows and he produces, a DT with almost a 10 minute highlight tape is impressive if most of the tackles are around the LOS.

That's where we disagree I don't think hes any better then what we have

I heard the same **** about every DT we crooted the last 5 years... This guy screams jag...If we really wanted him we would've been after him. This is not you guy first rodeo... You know when we go after a guy this late we lost someone..EIther a DT is transferring or Valentine aint coming..Jesus you guys are pathetic

You cant assume that. I mean this offer went out literally just as Dixon bailed, and Johnson told the staff that he's going to UK and not taking the online class. I mean the timing makes PERFECT sense. They probably feel they have an extra ship so who do you burn it on? Another WR? We already have 3 committed. DL has been one of the biggest holes on this team. So why not a solid local DT who they feel has a lot of upside? Obviously he's a project, but most DTs are.

I mean the kid has almost 2 dozen Division I offers including Tenn, and Arkansas.

DT is one of the hardest positions to project. At the HS level, most kids that play OL and DL get by using sheer size and brute force. Warren Sapp was a skinny TE when we recruited him. Forston was the best DT in Florida and a 5 star monster when we signed him. You just dont know. Its all a crap shoot.
This kid has decent size, seems to have some technique. Seems like a perfect candidate to Redshirt.

JUCO kids are here 2 years. Freshman get 5 to play 4. At some point in time Al needs to sign freshman and let them develop for meaningful contribution by the RS-Soph year.

Anyone talking **** about Nikita Whitlock needs to watch the tape. The guy gives linemen fits with his quickness. Used the right way in any system, he could make a difference. He had over 80 tackes this year with 19 TFL, 9 sacks, 3 PBU, 2 FF and 2 blocked kicks....and that is on a horrible defense, so he gets doubled. This is college not the pros. I don't care about his ideal NFL size....many DTs who do go pro don't ever have stats like that.

Some posters on hear are not happy with this offer. What's wrong with taking a 6'1" 290 DT and developing him into a 6'1" 310 player in the next two years. We need DT's that are willing to develop for a year or two before seeing the field.

If that kid is 6'1" 290 then my **** is 15 inches long.

He was tested at a ESPN camp. Those are his measurements. People talk about recruiting being different. This is one way they are. You actually get accurate measurements.

3a football has apparently turned into the land of the giants.

Doesn't Khairi Clark play at Chaminade? 3a

Yeah one guy, but the other team's entire offensive line was taller than Cerenord in some clips. And he's not thick either. He's short and skinny for a defensive lineman. I don't see him contributing at this level, and with the limited amount of spots remaining in this class it would be a mistake to offer him a scholarship.

You burn it on the best available linebacker.

The "mistake" has already been made. He got offered.

Good call. Wouldn't want that.

Lol this guy would get BURIED trying to play nose tackle in a 3-4.

Wake Forest ran a 3-4. He was their nose tackle. He wasn't a two gap NT.

What UM asks a nose tackle to do, kid would get BURIED. Like I said. Name nose tackles ithe NFL who are 5'9 250-275 pounds.

I'm sure he made plays against the UVa's, GTs, UNCs and Dukes of the world, but I have no doubt he made very few plays against FSU. We want to be elite, not just ok

He had 5 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks against FSU, but hey, stats are for losers. Dude had 82 tackles, 19 TFL, 9 sacks, 7 QB hurries, 3 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles and 2 blocked kicks this year. I'd take him on my team in a heartbeat.

This guy^^^ gets it. Most of you complaining must be blind and the same idiots who said that Rashawn Scott was a bad get by AG.

If you clowns would have taken the time to watch his tape, you would have seen that the kid had skills from the get go.

This kid is gonna be a baller for the U if he commits to us. Can't wait to see all of the excuses that are gonna be given when that day comes.

Rashawn Scott's HL tape was 5 minutes of him absolutely kicking the **** out of the competition.
