It was not pretty, but the No. 1 Miami Hurricanes football team extended their winning streak to six after taking down the Florida State Seminoles 43-35 at Hard Rock Stadium.

The offense did just enough to surpass the Seminoles on Saturday night by recording a total of 583 yards. Signal-caller Darian Mensah went for 326 yards while the ground game did its job, totaling 257.

But the defense was far from perfect, giving up a season-high 35 points. The defense let up a total of 443 yards--including 134 rushing yards--which is not ideal as the Hurricanes have one of the best run defenses in the country.

A major reason why the defense was struggling was because of 6-foot-6 veteran wide receiver Duce Robinson. He recorded five receptions for 113 yards and two touchdowns. He came up clutch multiple times, catching a 75-yard touchdown receptions to tie the game late in the fourth quarter.

The defense also struggled to cover the screen-pass, giving up a 24-yard touchdown reception to senior tight end Desirrio Riles and a 29-yard touchdown reception to running back Quintrevion Winser.

Head coach Mario Cristobal stated that the team just "found a way to win."

"When you get to play in this special rivalry, it means a lot to everybody, and to find a way to win like we did, it just speaks loudly to the fact that this team has the confidence, despite errors made, despite issues that we caused ourselves, that we can find a way. And we found a way."

And Cristobal is completely right. Sometimes all you have to do is just find a way to win, even if it's not pretty. Darian Mensah said the same thing.

"I think that's what just great teams do, is just finding a way to win. If all things aren't going your way and you can still find a way to win like that in that fashion, I think it shows, the guts of your team, and I think we've got that."

For example, last year’s National Championship team the Indiana Hoosiers, almost lost to the Penn State Nittany Lions in the regular season. But, championship-level teams always find a way to win these types of games.

For half the game, the Hurricanes were missing safety Zechariah Poyser after a targeting call. Bryce Fitzgerald was also banged up but played through.

However, despite the struggles, the defense finally stepped up at the end of the game, forcing two crucial turnovers. Defensive back Ethan O'Connor forcing a fumble, and defensive back Bryce Fitzgerald picked off Ashton Daniels' Hail Mary pass in the end-zone to defeat the Seminoles 43-35.

The Hurricanes did enough to get the win, and it's all about going 1-0 each week. Go Canes.
