The University of Miami athletic department earned an Academic Progress Rate score of 996 in the NCAA’s latest APR report, setting a department record for highest single-year average.

The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally. The NCAA released APR data for all Division I institutions Tuesday.

Twelve UM programs achieved APR perfect scores of 1,000 for the 2022-23 academic year – football, baseball, men’s basketball, men’s cross country, men’s diving, men’s tennis, men’s track and field, women’s cross country, golf, soccer, women’s track and field and volleyball.

Six programs – men’s basketball, men’s cross country, men’s diving, golf, soccer, and volleyball – received public recognition awards for placing in the 90-100th percentile nationally. The multi-year scores are based on the 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years.

“I am proud of our student-athletes for earning the best APR score in our department’s history,” Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said. “Thank you to our staff and coaches for their diligent work in helping our student-athletes continue to succeed in their classroom efforts.”

The APR provides a real-time look at a team’s academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team’s academic performance.
