Its pretty simple. Fam is from Miami. I am a lauderhill boy. Grandfather was an engineer on the Orange bowl during the 50s as part of its double decker expansion. Had season tickets every since I was a jit. Loved basketball in the early eighties and had no one to pull for because Miami did not have a team. Started pulling for Duke in the early 80s because Dawkins was my favorite player. Moved out of Broward the year after the Hurricanes started up the team again. Never went to a game and was entrenched with Duke. Miami is my second favorite basketball team even in front of my Alma matter UCF.

It's even simpler than that.

Miami has a basketball team now. You just root for Miami in basketball too, and say fūck Duke and their pollock coach.

Never could understand how anyone can pump their chest out about being a hardcore Canes fan and in their next breath say they are a Duke fan in BB....guess they pull for GT in baseball...

This. I like Duke myself because we (UM) didn't have a basketball team when I started following college basketball, and they literally didn't play each other a lick in any sport that mattered until we joined the ACC in 2004. I won't dump Duke altogether, but any sport, any time now, the Canes are first.
