Jasen “JRoc” Lopez vs Vance Spafford

  • Staff has Spafford higher on the board than Lopez.
  • Rasta points out Spafford is much faster and Canes have been missing on the difference makers
  • Flo says its real close and if its close, you go with the local from the pipeline school.
  • Lopez more athletic than what people credit him for.
  • Flo thinks staff isn't going all out for Lopez and they should be

Very interesting pod last night. Said there’s a huge disconnect between Miami staff and sofla (coaching) community. I’ve read rumblings of this on here and Flo seemed to think a lot of it has to do with supposed community guys that were previously on staff no longer there. Said that there are no more “community” guys on staff.

If this is truly the case, how could Mario so horribly overlook this? OTOH I have a hard time believing kids won’t come here bc we no longer have guys like cooney and hippolite on staff.

Miami has been **** poor when it comes to everything about the community since the Orange Bowl got destroyed. This is a FACT. But listen...having those guys on the staff was great for optics but even with them, these sofla jits are a different breed. Dawg they just don't care about the Canes like how y'all think they should. And why should they? We have sucked for LITERALLY their whole lives. LITERALLY.

I know 100% kids respected Cooney. For example, The only reason Brandon Innis even considered us was because of Cooney. He even use to call him "Dad".


And guess what? At the end of the day, jit still went to a place where he knew he was going to be riding the bench.
 
All the guys mentioned have been helpful in recruitments, no doubt, but where’s the evidence that any of our local misses leaned on these guys as their go-to Miami staffer?

Cooper was a perceived lock through June…all these staffers have been gone from our program anywhere from a year to six months.

Because it's alot of FLUFF and we need something to blame it on.
 
Further, all our 2027 commits are local. They haven’t had these same missed staffers recruit them. Their influence was insignificant in leading to their commitments.

I'm sure it does help but I think a lot of this is sour grapes from sofla coaching community upset at Miami staff going after national guys and ignoring some local guys.

So, I get they're frustrated but those coaches and handlers are happy to send their kids OOS to staffs with zero sofla presence in the community? Makes no sense
 
I’ll take their butt hurt about Cantwell and Spafford over this we miss DVD, Cooney and Co story.

They helped in the Manny era and I personally liked them. They were super friendly with fans.

But I’m not buying that as our main issue the last three weeks.

Exactly. Sark’s staff is so dialed into So Fla football culture. Lol

Sofla has some of the worst handlers... also Florida in general have some of the worst pay rates when it comes to coaching as a job in HS. Now that's more so something I've heard and haven't done my own research but we have coaches on this board👀 so they would know. So my point is, them mothafvckas don't really give a shvt about the community like how they want us to believe they do. Any big school that comes down here can drop a BAG and they will listen. I mean, there's a whole 7v7 team(that constantly have ELITE talent) down here that's **** near sponsored by OSU🤷🏾‍♂️

**James Johnson isn’t local to me. He and Cooper would equal Cantwell and Spafford. Outside of that…our two highest ranked kids have been worth every minute and penny on their recruitment.

Misses have been big and hurt, no doubt.

But we gotta move forward. Appreciate what we have and start hunting for next man up.

Yeah James Johnson should definitely not be considered "local". But ppl here say that so it can sound worse.
