It all depends on who those 8 are and what is in the portal.... 8 more Terry Roberts? F nah... 8 more Cam wards? Sure

Last year amount of transfers taken:

Ole Miss: 25
Oregon: 14
Bama: 15
Texas: 12
Ohio State: 7
Tenn: 9
UGA: 11

OSU was the lowest with 7 transfer guys out of the top 50 portal teams, no one had 8, a few with 9, but most are double digits.

Ole Miss: 23
USC: 15
LSU: 13
Oregon: 16
OSU: 9
Tenn: 8

You can only really compare with the other top teams and it looks like the 8-12 range is the sweet spot.

I was speaking in terms of our history in the portal. I think the results have been startlingly poor and we have landed a ton more Terry Roberts than we have Simeon Barrows. JMO.
 
Not sure how Flo figured we'd get to finish 7th, even after flipping Lowe. I don't wanna say its mathematically impossible, but...

For us to finish 7th, none of the teams ranked ahead of us can add anyone to their classes. We'd need to flip Pickett, Carter, Alford AND Hanks, get Wiley to commit, and not lose anyone of value.

I'm not predicting doom and gloom. The math just doesn't work.

The math may not work for what we know, but no one other than Mario knows everything he has going on. Cautiously optimistic that we get to #7 (or a little better)

I think D Money mentioned this after one of the recent Canes connection calls that the staff has acknowledged they weren't aggressive enough in past opening portal windows and that the funds will be there to make waves. Just gotta get the right guys.

Its just the math. I do not and have not questioned Mario's recruiting.

I've messed with the calculator and tried multiple times.

If we got Wiley, flipped Pickett, Carter, Alford and Hanks and then somehow pulled a monster out of left field like #7 overall Justus Terry, we'd still likely max out at 7th.

Getting to 7th is probably our best case scenario. BUT who knows where we'll finish once portal additions are added in. Sky's the limit there.

It’s relative to the other teams. So doing math right now won’t matter. OSU is ahead of us, say we take Alford and Carter, which would affect there class. Also who knows if somebody else leaves there class. Just saying.

If they lost alford, Carter and their top 2 committs that would put them at 289. I get what your saying but seems like the top 6 teams are pretty close to a lock already.

Were counting that as a hit for Flo? That such a vague hint. Did he say anything more?
 
Flo has now upped his number from 6-8 transfers for the winter portal to now 8-10

He believes somebody on the O line will medically retired in the offseason. (Antonio Tripp??)

Flo would like to see Sam Brown to go hit the portal and go somewhere else

In the portal he believes we will go after on the defensive side 2 DTs, 1 DE, LB, proven safety, a legit CB and a CB who can play star/corner.
On the offensive side a starting QB, Center and 1 WR

Flo believes Cooper and Horton are coming back next year. He is worried of the current LB room, if Pruitt can add 20 pounds he will be a problem.

Unless we get a DC in the portal it wont make a difference

Haven't we been grooming multiple guys to play C for a couple of years now? That's troubling.
