How was he turning them around? He went 8-5 three years in a row. They were stagnant. That was basically Butch Davis in a nutshell. He's recruit pretty well but won't win any championships and won't outcoach anybody.

Butch was a big reason we got put on suspension. Look at his wake of schools damaged by his recruiting tactics. No Pro for Butch, but FIU.... Richt fought Saban and the Sec.

I don't get why fans are so inlove with Butch, he left us high and dry. Yes he put together a great team, but he lied then bolted.
 
I doubt Davis gets this kind of tugging from his own wife. It’s pathetic around here. Dude won more than 10 games like once in all his stops. Dude will never coach here again. Give it up.

11 years as a head coach.

One 10-win season.

One outright conference championship.

For all those celebrating his 8-4 year at FIU, Lane Kiffin took over his main rival (FAU) and had a bigger turnaround while winning 10 games and a conference title.

And he also ate Butch's lunch in the head-to-head matchup.

Same reason I love Schnelly, JJ and to some extent, even Erickson.
And now Richt. All great UM coaches.
I guess really dumb kids have a hard time with that concept, that its possible to like them all.

I agree.

I root former Canes but Butch is the worst of that group and the only one who is borderline on your "great" label.
