The amazing thing about Cane's fans is that they don't remember the history - like getting blown out by Tennessee or Bama with championships on the line. Not happy about it, but it happens.

Davis did build the best college team in history during and after the worst probation period for the U. Davis did a great job and got jerked around by Shalala who was the problem and cost us a decade and half of a bottom feeder team by hiring imbeciles as coaches. Davis did build a great team of assistants were three plus himself went on to become NFL head coaches.

I hope Richt will win us several NCs. Got a ways to go after what Golden and the other stooge coaches did to the U.
 
In all honesty, would he be much worse than Richt?

He'd be doing the same job - stacking the roster with talent.

That’s retarded we were in the midst of the worst probation in the history of a power 5. Only SMUs was worse.

Lol. Butch may not be a better fit now for this program but please don’t diminish what he did for the U.

Davis may have not been a Great game day coach but he was pretty good. He was the greatest talent evaluator in college football history, a great recruiter and had a very good eye for assistants.
 
Hopefully, those who are still snuggling up to Butch will switch their allegiance to the next team he coaches. But wait, why aren't you already waving your pom-poms for FIU?

Canes went 8-3, winning the last 7 in row. Co-Big East Champs with #10 VaTech. No bowl due to sanctions.

I didn't and don't want Davis back, but saying 1995 was a failure is a laugh. The program was in shambles.

I just laugh at the Butch argument about his job offers. The NFL hired him. How many coaches in college get offered by the NFL? Only the elite...

Ok, he didn't succeed in the NFL: How many coaches in the last 30 years have succeeded in Cleveland (Belichick 36-44) (Butch 24-35)? After Cleveland, UNC hires him. He was turning around that program before questionable sanctions took him out. Now FIU (4 years before the hire: 1-11, 4-8, 5-7, 4-8). Butch takes over and goes 8-4 in his first year.
