Miami EDGE Hayden Lowe Named Under-the-Radar for 2026 Season After Missing Spring Ball

I’m with @AtlAtty and @No_Fly_Zone on this. I think money earning college athletes are essentially pros and should be treated as such. I also don’t believe fans are entitled to know everything so it comes down to what each organization chooses to release to the public and I’m fine with it either way.
I understand it but this is a slippery slope, yea they’re getting paid but these are college kids still and not pros

Their talent is giving them the opportunity to get paid at a young age, but treating them as pros takes away the natural grace society should give teenagers and young adults just entering the real world, especially with this new era for college sports

The word was already out a week ago to expect him here in Fall at camp. Now I never took that as he is out of the dog house and given a full open lane to try and earn a starting spot for game 1. I hope that is the case. I have no idea what the punishment was or is. We just need him focused and accountable. Blount has made big strides and is ready, regardless. Lowe has the talent to be the best, but if he has to do some time and play backup, just do what it takes. His mind is the only thing limiting his ceiling.

Lowe is an elite talent but he is very immature. his issues aren't being a bad kid, a criminal, etc. His issues are just maturity and he has to grow up and put it all together.

Probably not a great sign that he's not training in the UM facilities

Please refrain from talking about his personal life that is strictly forbidden.

All you need to know is that yes he is still enrolled in school, he just isn't going to school and no, he is not practicing with the team, but yes he is still on the team. Clear now?

I believe we can also break the news here, for the first time, that Hayden Lowe was on the grassy knoll when JFK was shot. Please respect his privacy though, at this time.

The semester is already over. We aren’t holding them hostage, they are allowed to go home and visit their families lol

Plus none of the players got a winter break because of playoff run.

Hope he uses this time to clear his head and get ready for the 26 season.

I think you can do both…. Give them some grace but also understand getting $50k deposited in your checking account every month comes with certain minimum expectations

Not ideal but good to know it’s nothing too serious. Hate to see talent like that blow it. At least he still has an opportunity in front of him.

Respectfully, your first sentence is self-contradictory in 2026. By definition, if you get paid (handsomely) to do a thing, you are a professional (as opposed to an amateur). The distinction you perceive between college football and "professional football" no longer exists. College football is now a type of professional football. And everyone should govern themselves accordingly.

We can't know it's "against the law to divulge those specifics" without knowing the specifics.

Off the top of my head, things that would be illegal (or even actionable) to report on would be health/medical information protected by HIPPA, certain academic information protected by FERPA, if he was the victim of a sexual assault (rape shield laws), sexually explicit material, recordings make without his knowledge, private information that was stolen (think of a data breach / hacking situation), or certain (very limited) sensitive personal information (things like bank account numbers and phone numbers). Most other stuff is fair game, especially now that he's somewhere on the "public figure" spectrum via profiting off his name, image, and likeness (so he torts like invasion of privacy that may pass for common folks may not apply to him).

If he spent all of his money on blow and hookers, divulging that fact would not be against the law.
If he got into a car accident being a knucklehead, divulging that fact would not be against the law.
If he violated some team rule, divulging that fact would not be against the law.
If he's homesick and wants to go back home, divulging that fact would not be against the law.
If he missed practices and team meetings without prior approval, divulging that fact would not be against the law.

There's certainly reasons not to divulge some of that above. "The law" is not among them.
Yeah, I saw that post and thought immediately about HIPPA because that’s protected but like you said, a lot of other stuff isn’t so I think the point was a potential overreach though I get why the HC doesn’t want to put dirty laundry out in public but that’s a management decision not necessarily a legal one.
You were more correct than you are giving yourself credit for. Miami is not subject to HIPAA in this capacity. Treatment providers at the university would be. But Mario saying Lowe has turf toe wouldn’t be a HIPAA violation.

There are other reasons to keep health and other information private though, and I personally appreciate Mario’s preference for keeping things locked down.

yall worrying about nothing. there is no spring portal. he is not going anywhere.

**** mario even kept jordan lyle who apparently was in dog house all last season in a crowded coming back rb room.

go touch grass people. or smoke it. whatever works for you

Correct.

And I would ask the following @E1k . Is an 18-20 year old playing minor league baseball or hockey a pro? All of us consider him a pro and that he is playing pro baseball/hockey, despite being the same age as a college student and playing in a minor league (which is what college basketball and football truly are).
Is an 18 year old tennis player at Wimbledon a pro tennis player? He/she is making professional money and is considered a pro despite being college age.

Maybe we can still show more grace based solely on the age. And to that I would generally agree that an 18 year is different from a 25 year old even if both are being paid to do the same or essentially the same thing. But they are still both professionals and the line between them has certianly been blurred or not eradicated by $$$
