Miami considering hiring chief of football staff

Blake James has literally created this position to alleviate the burden of having to do his own job.

Hes going to hire some cuck shill to direct the football program which is probably the biggest part of his job. This person will essentially be one step over the head coach.

Instead of just having a competent athletic director and a competent head coach, we get to have a new, third position in the middle to complicate things even more. This position is to babysit the head coach and make sure he doesn't do stupid stuff. Instead of just hiring a good head coach who isn't constantly doing stupid stuff.

Imagine having the power and authority to create a new job that does half of your job for you, and ensures that you cant get fired for failing to do your job.

And who's at the top? Julio Frenk. The beacon of incompetence who wont hire a competent athletic director.

Jesus Christ.

Well....this kinda kills my buzz...

To be fair, a lot of schools are doing this at all levels of college football.

College football is a huge undertaking in this era. Its a lot of money, responsibility, time, effort, etc. There is growing investment in infrastructure that for competitive schools mimics nearly a professional outfit. Having an athletic director that is good is rare, having an athletic director that is so good at his job and has the resources at his disposal to run the entire operation - football, et al - is nearly impossible. There is probably 10 in the nation that can really do that job. Blake James is clearly not one of those guys.

If its someone like Alonzo Highsmith coming in, I'm a bit more hopeful than if its some other garbage paper pusher. Alonzo Highsmith is coming here out of charity to the school he loves. He could get another high end NFL executive position and cake. If he comes here, he's coming here for a reason.

I hope he brings some smart people with them.

Get @Liberty City El and @gogeta4 in there and start grinding film. I hear them baws work for cheap. Two meals and some free swag and they work 14 hours days like they were Breaker Boys in the coal mines.

It's just not a solution to the actual problem.

If true, it shows that Blake doesn't trust Manny Diaz AT ALL, but won't/cant fire him so hes just going to bring in a supervisor.

What happens if Highsmith gets shackled by Blake James? He'll leave to be chief of staff at a playoff team?

What happens if the team still sucks? Blake James is going to create a supervisor of the chief of staff role.

Its comical that they wont just fix the problem. They'll beat around the Bush in e very imaginable way to avoid fixing the problem.

I think the rumors and jumping to conclusions are getting out of control.

James is talking about a chief of staff that has chemistry with Diaz and hiring one eventually. Norvell just hired his own chief of staff at FSU.

How that tidbit from the interview instantly means Highsmith is now going to run the football team with any amount of control and autonomy over Manny Diaz is a huge leap of faith.
The reach I'll go for is if Manny doesnt work out, that Football Chief of Staff could be an important person in the next HC search.

Now, you just made it even worse... lol

My guess is that the same *** crowd in the Athletic Dept will have Alonzo Highsmith on double secret probation before he even arrives.

****, Donna's probably already reached out to Jim Comey and Robert Mueller to develop an insurance policy for the Highsmith hire.

Already a FISA warrant being completed...

Can't believe there are people really complaining about our terrible AD basically saying he's going to go out and get help so he doesn't continue to fvck up the football program.

I would agree with you but then he said this CoS needs to have chemistry with Manny which makes this whole thing a joke in my mind. How about hiring a guy who, you know, actually knows stuff about what a winning football program needs to look like and letting that person make an assessment of every aspect of the program? If what some on the board have posted is true, sounds like there's a power struggle between the Blake James crew and the BOT members who actually care about winning football and it will be interesting to see how it all plays out over the next few days.

Why are we looking for an OC before hiring the COS? Shouldn't you want to hire the Football Chief of Staff before making a move for an offensive coordinator?

You're already minimizing that person's feedback before they are even hired.

He is looking to hire somebody to take the heat off him for his stupid decisions....

Thing big. Think someone who is above Manny, maybe lateral to Blake James but solely responsible for Football. This person would help in all organizational matters, recruiting, and general guidance of the football program. This would include being involved in screening of staff hires....
After all, that's what his experience is for.....

Blake James retains all other duties of AD for all other sports, including the stuff he is good at - fundraising.

Easy slide off the hot seat after he made the stupid hiring decisions one after another...

When you say do stupid stuff, do you mean:

Not conduct a HC search
Jump the gun and make a hire without consulting the BOT
Pay Temple a $4mm buyout for no reason
