Hecht and Stanford still to be redeveloped in an ultra modern way. Combine with NIL changes and (hopefully) a competent coaching staff, how could you negatively recruit against that?

Towers and Mahoney/Pearson are long overdue to be razed and rebuilt. Towers especially could look amazing -- they're among the taller buildings in Gables and we should really capitalize on the views.

No, they do not. Some of the student athletes will live in the newest dorms, but not all of them. Hecht and Stanford still need to be demolished and completely rebuilt. Timeline was supposed to begin this summer with Stanford getting demolished, but COVID got in the way of that. I suspect it’ll be atleast 6 years before the new freshman dorms are completely build and another 6 for Mahoney/Pearson to be renovated on the inside. No one knows at this point how much COVID will and has financially affected the university, but all capital projects are on hold for now.

I saw the blimp over the OB from my room during the Pittsburgh/Dallas Superbowl in '79,
and that was the 6th floor.

no but the football players almost never live in Hecht or Stanford. Usually Mahoney Pearson as freshmen and off campus after.
 
Freshman athletes/football players have to live on campus for one semester. They get out of dorm living ASAP, because they are compensated for the increase in expense. They generally live in groups, so it gives them more spending cash. Some freshman football players got back onto campus this week and are waiting for the final building inspection to move into the new dorms. I’m told they’re beautiful and everyone’s excited to get back to working out together. A lot of guys were on campus/came back into town last Thursday/Friday it’s time to play some ball.

Miami NEEDED new dorms more than anything tbh. This will be one of the most unique dorm settings in the country. Who’s competing with that? I’ve been to several colleges like uga and auburn and their dorms look nothing like that

I remember when they built University Village 15 years ago and there were a lot of issues (e.g. ceiling fans not secured to the ceiling falling on students while they slept). Hopefully smoother launch with these new dorms!

Thank God. We're washing the doom and gloom off of us. One step at a time.
 
I’ve seen some market value comparisons, and the dorms are going to be ridiculously expensive if you’re not getting it for free.

Estimates ranged from $1800 - $2000 a month ($7200 - $8000 PER semester)
