Miami Campus

Wow.
That used to be the number all-in, tuition and room/board, per year.
Yeah times have changed. The only apartment style living prior to this was University Village which were cheaply built in 2007, and the cheapest that goes for is about $1350.

I’ve seen some market value comparisons, and the dorms are going to be ridiculously expensive if you’re not getting it for free.

Estimates ranged from $1800 - $2000 a month ($7200 - $8000 PER semester)
That’s pretty accurate for condos that big on the mile. Brand new modern construction in the gables is pricey.
Bags or not it’s a selling point for kids. Once it opens up it will be attractive to recruits

I thought that the towers were to be razed (I was kind of sad to hear that, as I stayed in Hecht)?

That said, I can imagine the counter pitches:

Florida: Lake Osceola may have some alligators, but if you come here you'll see all the gators that you want. And jorts too. Don't forget the "get out of jail" free card (expires after leaving school).

Alabama: Their dormitories may be beautiful, but do they come with free cars? I mean, leased cars?

Clemson: This stuff? It's brutalist. It's old school. The Tigers are committed to spending over $5B on new player-specific dormitories, that will feature wave pools, roller coasters, water slides, personal assistants, and golden toilets.

Florida State: We once beat Miami. Once upon a time. Maybe again?

Is this true? 30MM people out of work and UM really gonna charge that kind of bread four an on campus dorm room? I no they are nice butt that's expansive as s***.
The price was determined before quarantine of course, and these were market value comparisons not stated price of the dorms themselves.

There’s potential they’re lower, but knowing that the UV (University Village) can cost $1500 and those are older and actually on the opposite side of San Amaro Drive and not right on the lake, anything below $1700/m would shock me.

I have to say, the price is out of reach for pretty much every normal person’s parents, but considering the kind of parents that can send their children to UM, it’s one of the few universities you can try this and be successful.

Idk if I’d pay for it, but the retail at the bottom, the amenities, the convenience, and the quality really is unlike any dorm I’ve seen.

Hecht and Stanford still to be redeveloped in an ultra modern way. Combine with NIL changes and (hopefully) a competent coaching staff, how could you negatively recruit against that?

If by "redeveloped in an ultra modern way" you mean "torn down", then I agree, that is what is going to happen.

So will Hecht and Stanford still stand? I thought that they were being torn down.

I was sad to hear previously that Hecht was going down...that was my dorm.

COVID gave them a brief reprieve. They need the rooms to spread out the freshmen.

Miami NEEDED new dorms more than anything tbh. This will be one of the most unique dorm settings in the country. Who’s competing with that? I’ve been to several colleges like uga and auburn and their dorms look nothing like that
Alabama's player dorms are likely made out of various forms of currency. Lucrative, but questionable stability from an architectural sense.
