I liked the opening pass attempt. I saw the vision/concept and had Beck been able to complete that over route to Toney, that would’ve been a HUGE gain but the DLineman got his hands up and deflected the pass

Don't forget the bad reads by the QB, drops, and half hearted fight for the ball when it was in the air. Execution was very poor

1)Dawson called plays to get guys loose, get guys having fun again. The issue with Mario, and the way he runs the program is that it becomes a grind. You can see it in the playcalling, in the way guys were executing. Guys just didn't have juice. Sometimes a playcaller has to get it going by getting some trick stuff in, things that get guys doing something different. You could see guys perk up after that first TD. Dawson did it right, the question is whether he will continue to keep it full go the rest of the season. Let these guys have fun, let them get out in space and make plays. Stop making football more difficult than it actually is.

2)Young players flashed. Pringle showed that he has a future, you saw other youngsters make plays. Justin Scott is going to be a problem, if he can stay on the field. The play he made on that end around was spectacular, especially considering that he's a defensive tackle and he's running down receivers. As we get into the final weeks of the regular season, freshmen should start figuring things out, and their roles should be increased, especially as inevitable injuries start to test team depth.

There are a ton of things to work on, including the slow starts. Why didn't Dawson get the energy going a bit earlier? The defense brought their own juice, what's the issue offensively? Is there a lack of leadership? Whatever it is, a lot of these games wouldn't even be close if the O could string together a couple of decent drives early.

yes!!! All of this.

This version of the offense needs to not go into hiding next week. This team is going to NEED it next week. Let's keep using page two of that play call sheet. It helps Beck, too. Takes some of the pressure off his shoulders when you get so many guys involved.

They were tight to start. You could see the difference towards half time. Those drops did not help - without those, the score looks very different. My biggest criticism was Upshaw didn't get many snaps after his great play. He needs to see the field more.

Dawson needs to feel the heat again this week. Keep the pressure on HIM

There were NOT receivers running wide open in the first half. IDK what you were watching . Sitting there in person, you could really see what was going on.

Beck wasn't the issue

I remember being up 21-3 mid 3rd qtr and we ran tempo for a drive. It makes no sense

You just tapped into Mario's psychology. He is literally petrified of making mistakes so consequently, his team also becomes scared of making mistakes. This is where it gets interesting. Mario's players then become frustrated and begin to lose discipline and technique and this leads to the team playing both tentative and sloppy.

if the heat and humidity (at Hard Rock) is our weapon, Ive never understood why Miami hasn't been a program that utilizes it more early and often in games. I get being physical and pounding teams late, but why not make it a priority to get up early and play from ahead?

The trick play narrative is just well dumb, we whine about creativity and then pull the old well if Dalvin Cook didn’t score on a 70 yard run he only had another 30 yards. TDS are TDs and the point of the game. I know your narrative but you have to sit back sometimes and think first and use something else.
 
The concerns about slow starts are valid. There are ebbs and flows to a game as Mario said, but slow starts are a pattern that needs to be fixed.

Overall, this game seemed like a step in the right direction offensively. The formations, motions, and play calling were all more varied. Fewer penalties. As others have mentioned, the game probably goes a little differently without the drops.

It also appeared to me that when Beck scored his TD he snapped out of mope mode and most everything in our offensive operation seemed a tad sharper. Still, as OP said, would like to see some tempo mixed in. Just a little bit of no huddle or even just getting up to the line quickly after the huddle. Even going quickly on short yardage like we did some earlier in the year.

Young guys added a nice dynamic and were fun to watch.

I was at the game: it was a boring slog fest not a dynamic dominating offense — like say — Dalvin Cook. Try again.

Everyone that isn’t drinking Kool Aid has a narrative and hates everything, including pointing out the problems with the offense. I “sat back” at the game watching the crowd and team fall asleep and the defense save our ***, then, I “sat back” and watched the board act like the offense didn’t struggle to score most of the game.

I didn’t discredit the Marion TD (a guy most of y’all wanted benched). It was a great and timely strike.

Seems like more and more posters have these “narratives” ya’ll whine about.
