May be a dumb question but why doesn't the U consider playing at Marlin Park? I know they have a contract with Sun Life Stadium, but when Beckham spoke about building a stadium downtown possibly involving The U, I don't recall objections because of Sun Life..
I have to believe if they can play a Bowl Game there, that it could accommodate regular season games for The U?

Not that it'll even matter any longer as they'll be lucky to average 20000 real butts in seats in the future...

It's a baseball stadium. You only play football in a baseball configuration when you have no other choice, or as a novelty.

People were excited at the possibility of something other than Sun Life, so that drowned out a lot of the things potentially holding it up, but the contract with Sun Life was part of the those. It definitely wasn't the only thing, but it did play a part:

"The idea of a joint football/soccer facility became too complicated, with too many logistical issues such as parking. Plus, UM has 18 years left on its Sun Life lease, and Stephen Ross strongly opposed letting the Hurricanes out of that, though UM never reached the point of asking."

And is playing at the Marlin's stadium really any better than Sun Life? It's closer to campus, but I wouldn't be surprised if you got even less people than at Sun Life given it would be an even crappier seating to field situation for most seats and would probably be harder for most people to get to.

well, since you put it that way...

it wouldnt hurt to try it out with a game or two. better location for sure.
Are you blind? Yes it would. It's horrific for football other than novelty. No seats along one sideline. This is not a baseball stadium with moveable seats like they used to build

I think it'll be a great fit for when we play teams that aren't FSU. The stadium will always be packed and won't look half empty for other teams to use it to negatively recruit against us. For the bigger games, go back to Sun Life. Any reason that wouldn't work?

Here is Shea Stadium in Football Configuration with the seats moved:

Just tear down the revolving fish park and build a new OB...Totally impossible with the debt load, but I like saying it.

I wonder if they could put bleachers in why is the outfield area, behind that sideline to make it more like a football stadium for football games.

I'm going to game tonight only cause I got free tickets but interested to see football inside marlin park

I hope UM will try to get the land back when Loria finally moves the fish outta Miami. Probably right around the time the lease runs out. Hopefully they can renovate the place into a decent football stadium.

that stadium is a perfect representation of what our school and fan base are: small intimate setting, with rabid fans. That would be an intimating place to play for opposing teams, with the fans and team being right up on you.

Would appreciate your thoughts on the atmosphere/view. My suspicion is that it won't work well, but I prefer to hear that from someone who has actually experienced it.
