Brent Bland is officially a Miami Hurricane. Miami announced the addition of the Saint Peter’s transfer, who committed to the program this morning following an official visit. Bland, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound guard totaled over 700 points in four years at Saint Peter’s. He has played four season of college basketball but redshirted his sophomore season so he should I have another year of eligibility of his hands.



Last season, he averaged 13.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.0 steals in 33.2 minutes per outing for the Peacocks. Bland started all 29 games played while shooting 38.8 percent overall, 36.9 percent from deep (7.4 attempts per contest), and 78.3 percent from the line. He also was First Team ALL-MAAC showing how really good of a player he really is.

Blands joins Acaden Lewis, Shelton Henderson, Dante Allen, Caleb Gaskins, Somto Cyril, Marcus Allen, DeSean Goode, Nick Dorn, Quin Berger, and Chris Birden as official roster additions for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

This could be the last addition of the 2026-27 roster or maybe it won’t, where do you think Jai Lucas and his staff go after next?

On the surface it sounds like a good addition. What concerns me, is that he will need to be granted another year of eligibility.

 

Hard to see him not getting granted his sixth year because of an injury his jr redshirt year

He's eligible for a medical RS for 24-25. Only played in 5 games due to injury.

 

I would think he would try to get one or two more for the season and not go with 11, one of whom, Allen, we don't know if he will even be able to go

One season he played in 5 games.. That's not a season.

 

He can shoot FTs and is decent from deep, this is the kind of shooter most of us have been asking for. The question is whether he gets an additional year of eligibility. In a sane world, he would, but we know how the NCAA is in regards to Miami and rules. The only thing that gives me hope is that the NCAA has been neutered by the courts, the threat of litigation may be enough for them to do the right thing.

He's being brought in because he can shoot, period.
