Lol,
Let me explain:
When USC was faced w/ The Coliseum situation, as an example, they partnered w/ the City of Los Angeles to come up w/ a mutually, financial benefit proposal for both parties. The results? SC cashed out $60m from naming rights.
SC gives a flying fock ‘bout their academic standings & athletic reputation. They are playing below their standards, and w/ that being said, they fired a HC that won their division 3x in his 6 yr coaching career, winning the conference once & bringing a Rose Bowl crown to them. Y? B/c it’s not good enough; that’s the difference. They had an AD once pull a coach off the bus just to fire him b/c he sucked as a coach.
SC has had nine 10+ win seasons in the last 20 yrs, while we have had one. SC has won 8 bowl games in the last 20 yrs, 5 of which being NY6 bowls, and it’s not good enough for them. We, on the other hand, have won 3 bowls during this same time frame, and only been invited to play in one NY6 bowl, period; but b/c “it’s more than just W’s” w/in our dept, we’re content w/ that.
We just had someone’s husband from the AD tweet that Herbstreit was wrong. After the 6-7 season in ‘19, including two losses to G5 programs, we had a prominent booster tweet E before W.
The two may look similar in that both are private schools, w/ rich history that’s underachieving, but these two schools r not the same. SC have learned u can be a top academic institution & athletic institution, while striving for that. I don’t know wtf Miami strives for.
