not sure about that. I think he had to be convinced to come out of retirement and there may have already been signs he was on his last legs coaching. I think he gave it a valiant try but just got burnt out in the end and health was deteriorating. I don't think there was anyone else if you have to convince a guy to come coach. The AD was also Blake. Enough said.
