Miami adds Texas transfer kicker Bert Auburn to the 2025-26 roster

He is 67% from 40-49. That is with an off year last year. It's a good pickup.
You forgot to add in his attempts from 50+.

If he was good….he wouldn’t be in the portal. It’s not like Texas doesn’t have money to throw around.

It’s a reclamation project and a risky one.

Miami is actively recruiting today and has secured NC State transfer Kamal Bonner. Moments later, Texas transfer kicker Bert Auburn committed to Miami on Saturday afternoon.

During his time in Texas, he was named the all-time leading kicker in field goals, making 66 of them and scoring a total of 376 points.

Auburn was also included on the Lou Groza Award preseason watch list this past season, which recognizes the nation’s top kicker. He completed the 2024 season with a field goal accuracy of 16 out of 25 attempts.

In December, Miami added Carter Davis, who served as a kickoff specialist for FAU over the past two seasons. Davis achieved an impressive 81 percent touchback rate this season, successfully recording 45 touchbacks out of 61 kicks.

Phil Steele named Auburn to the 2024 Preseason All-America Second Team and the media’s Preseason All-SEC First Team this past college football season.

Welcome to Miami! Also, look at that hair!

This MUST BE fixed.

But, good NIL potential

Hard to believe that there's not some kid on that campus who played commie kickball in hs that can't make 80% + from 40 yards and kick it in the end zone on kickoffs. Check the intramural fields.

This is the worst take of Mario’s portal tenure. You couldn’t get some young kicker from some random directional school that actually can hit more than 70% of his kicks?

Look at his entire career before you post a hot take.

K went from a giant hole to a small question mark. Say a big thank you & complain about something relative.

/ I’m looking at you, safety

2 things:

1. He’s a career 76.7% place K which is not good
2. He’s actually regressed every season:

2022: Missed 5 FGs
2023: Missed 6 FGs
2024: Missed 9 FGs

K r very skittish. The only thing we can hope for is a change of scenery will help his mental, b/c when K’s start missing FGs, they r no different than golfers that can’t get their swing back.

Two of the 9 he missed in 2024 were over 50 yards. And he missed 4 late in the year, 2 in the SEC-CG and 2 in the bowl game. Injury? I'm sure we did our due diligence.

Before the 2024 post season, he only missed 5. I don't know what was to blame, but I'd be willing to bet that he is fixable.

He has HIT on a lot of FGs. He was over 80% in 2022 and 2023 even missing 5 and 6 FGs respectively.

Needs to work on his long kicks. His short game is MONEY.

He kicks 58% from behind the 40 yard line.

0-2 from beyond 50+ yard line last year.

Not clutch. Doesn’t have a strong leg. And now expecting him to mentally rebound after a horrible year.
From what I can remember he was rough against UGA in the SECCG and ASU in the CFP, which is very common knowledge.

I don’t know. I’m a Vikings fan, so I hardly trusted Borregales, not his fault, there’s almost no way I’m going to feel confident if this kid is lining up a game winner. But I’m not the HC, so who cares what I think.
