Miami 247 Recruiting Ratings - Linebacker Edition (2023 Version)

Did Ragone get tenure….seems like he must have cause I can’t think of any other reason he’s still on the team other than maybe to help pick up the practice dummies when they’re done ( of course he has to be careful there cause he might be mistaken for one )
lol...let's give him credit where it is due. He's getting a scholarship at a Power 5 school, one with great name value. No many people can say that. He's obviously earned it.

Appreciate the info but something bothered me about the yearly averages. The math didn’t seem to work with adding high end players and seeing the average go down.

The reason is that you list Ragone in 2023 (and 20,21) but left him out of the 2022 roster. That skews 22 up or 23 down (however you want to look at it)

What it really tells me is that 22 was even worse than it looked here. Especially considering that he played meaningful snaps and not just lingering as a cannon fodder roster stuffer

Ugh. Ragone should be on there in 22. That’s a typo

I fixed that. Adding Ragone in 22 drops the number down.

The 2008 class still makes me scratch my head - 9 linebackers! What were we thinking?
Apparently we weren’t thinking. This was Shannon attempting to fill gaps (from Coker), keeping people at his “pipeline schools” happy, and securing the “number 1 recruiting” class. Roster mismanagement at its finest. He over recruited certain positions, therefore creating other depth chart gaps. Idk if we’ve EVER had a balanced roster since that fateful class. It made no sense then, like it makes no sense, now! 9?! Holy ****!

9 linebackers and seven wide receivers in that class. Over half of the class dedicated to two positions.

Yep! That class was the epitome of roster mismanagement. It put us behind the 8 ball for years to come.

We had a crazy number of WRs in that class, too. I recall it being 8, but 247 lists 7.

I didn't have a problem with recruiting that many WRs, not after Coker incompetently neglected that position.
I didn't either - it was a necessity after carrying only 6 scholarship wide receivers to start the 2006 season, and falling to three available wide receivers after we started 5-2 that year. But it had long term ramifications in recruiting.

Linebacker was a complete headscratcher though. It's like signing 14 offensive linemen in one class.

I know they didnt all get on the field together but **** 2011. Sean Spence, Denzel Perryman & Eddie Johnson. I loved watching those guys on the field at their respectful times.
