I live in the Pacific NW. watched a ton of Oregon games. The Cristobal specials become obvious when you see it season after season. What I can’t explain is why it happens. He isn’t going to outcoach anyone, but still wins a lot of games with a talent advantage. But then 1-2 times a year the talent doesn’t show up. One can say he got outschemed in those particular games but he’s outschemed in nearly every game. So there has to be a different reason besides being outschemed.
It’s fairly straightforward. His teams are rarely, if ever, capable of playing 4 full quarters of good football against teams with a pulse. We can loosely define that as .500ish+ teams. For a CEO-type/non-Xs and Os coach, He is not a good motivator either.
So you look at situations where motivation could be a problem (BYE weeks, road trips) and scrappy opponents with HCs that could exploit weaknesses, Particularly conference opponents with familiarity with systems and tendencies.
Before the season the games I had circled were UL, @ SMU, @ VT and @ Pitt. He will lose 1 to 2 of the remainder.
Last year I had Syracuse circled preseason and expected us to drop that one.
