Mesidor Is Coming Back

I hear you but in times past, what were the odds that Mesidor would go anywhere? Pre NIL, Pre portal, he was a lock to come back. Now, it's a **** circus.

Awesome some proven production you can rely on next year as it seems we will be breaking in a ton of new faces
 
Massive to get him back. He was one of our best players last year, now just need him healthy for a full year.
 
This might be the best news we get all off-season. The D-Line would have been in big trouble had we lost Jackson, Mesidor, and Miller. I can’t help but think of what might have been if Jackson would have stayed because we’re still lacking a space eater on the inside but this definitely lightens the blow.

We need a replacement for Jackson but the scuttlebutt is that we have that covered. I'm not worried about safety but we need these young CBs like Graves, Rogers and Harris to step up. I believe McClain will play immediately and that he has tremendous skills but he's only a true freshman. I like the CBs to be better overall this year but the real breakthrough will be in 2024 unless we snag a great CB in the portal.

At LB we have Bissainthe locked in at one spot and Chase Smith will be fighting at least three true freshmen studs for a position. We will be better here but like with CB if we grab a great LB in the portal we could see this unit gel much earlier. We will see.

The DL was very good at pressuring the QB in general this season but they could do wonders if we can get consistent edge pressure from Nyjalik Kelly. I believe Moss to be another year away. Wayne and Acheampong will be true freshmen. We need another DE in either this class or through the portal. This defense needs a truly dominant edge defender/pass rusher. It would be immense to grab one through the portal as I'm not sure when Kelly will be ready to put it all together.

With the departure of Jordan Miller and Darrell Jackson, the DT position must be fortified both through this class and the portal. Taylor should have his breakout year and Messidor could always move back inside but we are dangerously thin here. JHH and Ahmad Moten are our only depth.

Considering the state of flux that the defense and the entire rooster is going through, getting Messidor to come back was crucially important. Someone said that Messidor was one of our two best players on defense with the other being Kam Kinchens. They were right.

That ain’t it. Harvey, Flagg, Smith and Couch shouldn’t start next year. Maybe Smith if he takes a step but the other 3 no way.

Gna be disappointed if Flagg and couch are starting next season... Def need to get much more athletic at the LB position for sure. I'm definitely intrigued to see a healthy chase smith though
