Mensah, Fletcher, Toney

Cam’s ability to improvise saved Shannon’s ***. I still remember year 1 with TVD and Emory was a step forward but still not good enough by Miami standards. My problem with Shannon is he’s a stud when the offense stays on schedule, but when they don’t, he ***** himself.

I think Shannon is careful with not putting his QBs in a position where they can make costly mistakes. Ward is such a good QB you could pretty much dial up anything and he'd figure it out. Could trust him not to do something dumb with the football.

I would cringe a little bit anytime Beck dropped back back to pass. I couldn't get "the defense is going to trick him into throwing into coverage just like Louisville did" out of my head. Did you trust him to make good decisions? I didn't.

Nope but wild that coming out of a timeout, that’s the trash read they had. And yes I said they bc during the timeout they should be talking abt what to expect and reminders on the progression and what kinda plays they were looking at next. Standard practice.

For me, I just can’t stand Shannon’s predictability. Every drive shouldn’t start with your P&10 run. Start one with a tunnel screen which is an extension of the run game anyways. The regression of Josh Moore during the season frustrated me a bit too as he went from a guy battling for reps to looking a bit tentative and not playing free in the later half of the year

This notion of Toney is a #1 so we don't need a #1 is nonsense. Stack talent.

Bama had Devonta Smith and Jerry Jeudy. More recent, OSU had Jeremiah, Tate, and Egbuka last year.

I love Toney as much as the next guy, but if you don't think putting him alongside a bigger receiver who can bring down contested catches won't just make Toney more of a threat inside, I don't know what to tell you. Besides, he takes some big hits and plays fairly physically for his size. If you can avoid a little wear and tear, do it.
We definitely need some bigger receivers.

OL will again be a top unit, if we get Wilson then our DL will be a top 3 unit in the country again.

WR and TE are the question marks for me

Marion and cj Daniels were such incredible pickups and so underrated. most people were whining over cj Daniels and Marion and CJ were absolute superstars and so reliable.

I know we got cam vaughn and Jacobs but can they be THAT good? idk

lofton coming back but schottl left. TE just might have cost us the national title, we need to upgrade there and with the portal closed it's unlikely we do

I think with mensah offense will be good, very dynamic. If Vaughn or Jacobs can really be outside threats or one of the freshmen is truly ready then we will be very good on that side of the ball. On D its so tough to replace Bain/Mesi. I like what we have (especially if we land Wilson) but a small step back is expected. And linebacker room isnt exactly fearsome overall. But Hetherman has earned my trust at least to figure it out for next year. Lets get this kicking situation settled and for the love of God place more focus on the importance of special teams.

You are describing what Josh Moore will hopefully be next year

If Duke wins in court and we cannot get Mensah, we’re fuqed.
There is always a chance that can happen. At the least, we may have to compensate Duke..we ****ing of everybody…

Agree with this.

OL this year was elite elite. We can drop off from that and still have a top 5 unit in the country. DL will be missing the NFL bookends, but Lightfoot, Scott, Moten, Blount, Lowe, and most likely Wilson. Jarquez Carter will be a dude too imo. Rotation is thin up the middle, but we can Nascar package that in spots

DBs, we're bringing back a ton of solid to great depth and the incoming class is dope too.

Bunch of talent at WRs. You're hoping at least one of them has a Mali type jump/impact in the off-season and going into the season. Moore, Wingo, Vaughn, Jacobs, Spafford, Jojo, Parris.

TEs and LBs are my only concerns on where playmaking and productivity are going to come from.

He’s going to start I’m sure. The feet are what you’d ‘worry’ about but I think he can make up for it with his ridiculous power in the hands to knock guys back. If you look at our schedule which set of pass rushers worry you other than maybe ND and Clemson?
Mauigoa struggled a bit his first year and he was much much more ready than Cantwell

It’s good that Cantwell is here early though. He’s obviously freak of nature status

Yeah Francis was super strong in run blocking immediately but I do remember the pass pro sets he got beat in
I think Cantwell just looks a little awkward sometimes because he’s such a big kid. Like those old famous Shaq videos. He’s got a different frame than Mauigoa so it’s tough to compare.

I’m just banking on the strength he has and the arm length being absolutely absurd. If that’s the case, maybe he can just keep everyone outside while he learns to set his feet. You hear in the NFL how important that hand power is so I’m just praying that immediately translates it because he probably has power reserved for upper class men already.

Curious to hear if Mario gives any sports science updates on a player like him. I know he said Cici tested off the charts for things like short burst and bone density

We just saw a generational DL. We will have a strong DL next year but you can't replace a player like Bain.
This. We have to get better at other position groups to pick up the load. There will be a drop-off with our ends, but I don't think it'll be significant as we're returning talent at the position - just not once every 25 year talents like Bain.
