On this Memorial Day weekend, please remember our Nation's veterans past and present.
They did, so you can do.
Go Canes!

Go Canes!
I've volunteered with Fisher House, helped cook dinner for a few dozen vets and their families one evening. It was a great experience spending time with them and talking shop, they were very appreciative.Today is a good day for all of us to put our money where our mouth is when it comes to respect for our veterans and expressing gratitude. There are hundreds of charities out there, but here are just a handful of some of the generally well-regarded charities doing good for veterans, servicemembers, and their families:
They build and operate "comfort homes" for military and veterans' families to stay while they receive treatment at VA and military medical centers around the world. They also help with transportation costs for the families.Home - Fisher House Foundation

This is a sweet charity. It provides trained service dogs to military veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury, or sexual trauma. Most of the dogs come from kill rescue shelters, so it's also a charity for dog lovers.K9s For Warriors - Service Dogs for Veterans with PTSD
K9s For Warriors is the nation’s largest provider of Service Dogs for Veterans with PTSD. We help Veterans live a life of dignity and independence.www.k9sforwarriors.org
This charity provides scholarships and college/educational counseling to the children of military men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Personal favorite.Children of Fallen Patriots
Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation provides college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. We believe a college education is the single most important gift we can give these children.www.fallenpatriots.org
Mostly they send care packages to veterans and first responders as a means to show gratitude and appreciation. Simple, grassroots, and meaningful.Homepage - Operation Gratitude

Indisputable fact.Without those who gave their lives serving America, there is no America.
It hit me a little harder than it usually does, pretty sure that's why. It's the first Memorial Day for those families of the 13 soldiers who died as we left Afghanistan.
They have my sincerest sorrow and gratitude for their sacrifice,
