MEGA Mega Merged Stadium Thread.

I was talking more about when we left but the JRS time was right when I was born (basically, it was built in 88?).

agreed which is why I don't see us getting our stadium on the county dime. I don't see a private individual coming in and giving us a stadium either (if we have our own home, it has to be ours and not anyone else's. everyone in Miami is selfish. they all care about themselves. this includes the boosters).

so john ruiz is NOT going to give us the stadium? or a share in the stadium for free?

do the people that live in video game heaven know this?

got it. i just re-read it. about 250,000 people COULD walk to the game. ****, maybe even HALF A MILLIION OR MORE. you are right, but none will. i had this discussion with a poster who knows nothing and she had to walk away from the discussion with her tail between her legs (i am assuming that the referenced poster is a woman, but i am not sure)
If I'd known who I was arguing with (a reformed Westchester hoodrat on a crusade) I would have never gone down this road with you lol. But please keep "reporting" about how your greaseball friends in the county legislature are drafting an ordinance that will keep your beloved town and park stuck in 1976 forever. Congrats on that.

Having a stadium close to the university so it is easier for students to get there is a baseless argument. The university has 10k undergrads out of which maybe 30% and that's generous, are interested in football. For the remaining students who do want to go to the games, it really isn't that hard. The university makes it pretty convenient for them with transportation.

Regarding the rent a stadium comment, do you think the University owned the Orange Bowl? The city owned it and the university paid rent. The University of Miami has been a tenant since the day they started playing football.

Finally, I don't care where they actually play the games as long as it is convenient to get in and out of, is comfortable, has a good view of the field no matter where you sit, has quality concessions and where I remain dry when the monsoons come. BTW, everything I just mentioned above is what we have now and you think it would be a good idea to move just so students who make up a tiny percentage of actual fans can get there a little easier?

If anything, having all those things associated with Hard Rock works against us. No one watching F1, tennis, the Orange Bowl game, the Super Bowl or the CFP title game associates that place with the Miami Hurricanes, and if they do it's a problem because you can count Miami's memorable wins there on one hand. People remember 58-0 against Clemson and the recent disasters against UNC, MTSU, FSU, Duke and so on. You and others are absolutely right about the hyprocrisy on display here.
Uhh that's because we've sucked for 20 years.

no dice because florida prohibits casinos except in certain places. but the malaysians paid IIRC $250MM and are now selling it for over $1B. IIRC it is about 20-25 total acres. could you fit a stadium? yes, but you'd have to spend another $1B building it and finding parking. how is going to do that?
Well, yeah. That was pretty much my point.

If, say, 3 or 6 or 10 years from now the state legislature is still racketeering with the Seminoles on their monopoly over operating anything close to an actual casino, perhaps the tribe who bought magic city might decide they want to cut their losses. And, perhaps, at that point some combination of the university and a few benefactors decides it’s worth their while to invest in another building project.

i believe the chance of either of those two events occurring is less than 0.00001%. said differently, the possibility of sofia vergara servicing me is more likely than your scenario, in my humble opinion

1b for a stadium land not including the actual construction. zero and I mean zero chance the school decides that's worth it

With enough cash and clout, anything is possible. Even you could get yourself into some scenario where it’s possible that Sofia vergara might trip and fall, open mouthed, right onto your lap.

Lol. Even rsa gives it better odds than you.

You can make up whatever #s you want. How much is centennial village gonna cost? How much is the football facility going to cost? 10 years ago, I’m sure people like you were saying the towers would never come down until Andrew 2.0 knocked them down - yet, here we are.

If it’s just a money question, anything is possible.

You missed the point. The "center" of the city part? Huh? That was your takeaway? Who cares? It's about being near PEOPLE. Whether they are in South Miami, Coconut Grove, Brickell, it doesn't matter. You kinda made my point actually. Yes, if you put a stadium in a park in a neighborhood that is surrounded by RESIDENTS, people who live there WILL walk on game day because they will be walking through a gamey environment that will spread through the neighborhood, people will bike, the areas around the stadium will become part of the gameday experience. They will develop too. What we are actually talking about is so many people will live so close to the stadium, it will become part of their lives and they will take an interest because its in front of their face and it becomes a layup. That creates new fans, boosts attendance, creates a game day environment. GameDay at Tropical Park! This is cannon, not theory.

It's wild to me that some people think that putting a business in the middle of nowhere is a better idea than putting a business where people are. Zoom out!

Nah bro. I know everything about it and more. I'm a Cane through and through in every way. Got the paper too. Have lived all over the city. And I have some professional chops in this arena, actually. Most people can only see 6" in front of their face. I'm not one of those people.
You put your product where the people Are.
Learned that at the U,,mba 1980..

I don't think I've read a print newspaper in 18 years, other than Weekly World News.
I remember hearing the pitch for potential reporters applying at National Enquirer and Weekly World News was whether they were comfortable working with 30% fact. In today's media that would put them at the top of the most reliable sources.

I was just told by a very reputable source that Elon Musk is building a stadium for us on the moon and he’s going to be constructing a vacuum tube like you see in the drive-thru at banks that will suck students from a location on bird road to the moon via the high velocity chute.

Exciting times, boys! Buckle up!
