Keeping:
Rumph - Supposedly bad recruiter (which is debatable) has done his primary job. You do realize that the NCAA doesn't simply assign you wins based on what a kid has done in HS, right? They actually have to perform when they get to college and we just had excellent CB play and the nations best pass D. Knowing that wins = elite recruits at the U, firing Rumph would have been a huge mistake! Good move by Manny here.

Simpson - Didn't think it was possible, but it turns out that he is actually training our DL at least as well, and I would say better, than Kul. We're better against the run and although Willis came to the table with ability, you can't tell me that Simp didn't help him. Although, we will miss GW, with Simpson coming back, I feel confident that he will have our DT's playing well enough for us to field another stud unit.

Banda - Good recruiter and knows the D and can be MD's surrogate.

Pattke - I'm not so sure about, but if Manny wants him, it's hard to argue against the success of the D, so whatever, he brings consistency, I guess

Firing:

Gus - The guy looks like a type 2 diabetes candidate. I'll never forget seeing him on screen and asking, who's the fat guy? Some GA for the DL or something? Nope, he's the coach in charge of getting the guys in shape....wha...? I expect two huge things next year as a result of this firing: 1. DJ will slim down and have a HUGE year! 2. We are going to have far fewer injuries. You won't see an entire unit taken out and put on the DR like our TE's this year. Injuries are one of those things that appear flukey and sometimes they are, but isn't funny how the more in shape teams just coincidentally have fewer injuries as a group? A miracle coincidence, right?

Hartley - Supposedly great recruiter, but when you're not winning, that gets muted. More importantly, the ST's were horrific for the majority of the year. Worst kickoff coverage and even worse blocking on punts. Bye Felicia.

Searles - Right.. :-) We can move on to the next fire, because he was the worst OL coach in our history.

Thomas - What exactly did he do for us again?

Donk - If this were last year, I'd think Manny was crazy, but Dugans is like the anti-Rumph. Great recruiter, but I have NEVER seen Canes WR's as a unit drop THIS many passes. Even during that one season with Coker where they were dropping Brock's passes like he was tossing out molten lava instead of pigskins. This season was the worst. A WR coach should have a few responsibilities, but their primary responsibility is for their young men to CATCH THE BALL!!! His guys didn't do that as a unit. Bye, now.

In one season, Patke showed me he's more qualified as positional coach than Jon Richt showed in three years.

how is he bad at recruiting?

because the AH kids chose to go to 2 elite CFP programs over us when they could see that Richt wasn't trending up?

if we win, they will come. Until then we won't get elite recruits at ANY position

And let's not forget the bags. Hard to compete with that on an uneven playing field.

If we win, we will keep enough talent. If we have the right coaching staff, maybe, just maybe, we can actually be that team that out-coaches other teams instead of always being the team that hopes to out-athlete everyone we play.

Please tell me how Rumph being a terrible recruiter is debatable?
Please tell me how anyone that’s currently employed is a good recruiter? Give me the results. Y’all hold rumph to a different standard clearly

In 2018, they brought in Blades, Ivey, etc. He has the building blocks for another great secondary on campus right now. Again, if we win, we will bring enough talent to beat anyone we play if our coaches are coaching them up, like Rumph.

What did Simpson do better than Kul? I’m a fan of him but to say he is better than Kul is ehh. Let’s see what he does with his own guys first.

The DL played better against the run for starters. Also, Kul was a notoriously bad recruiter, so "Let's see how he does with his guys" argument doesn't have a lot of weight.

Sorry but it does have weight, again I have no problem with Simpson but he hasn’t proved himself on the recruiting front either.

Kul has a track record of success. Simpson has one season of college coaching. He did well from all appearances but let's stop the comparisons of the two.

Why don't you return this without all the guys Banda missed on.
Henderson was his fault, but he was being a *****
Marco we never had a shot on.
Davis was Banda.
Campbell was both but dude just didn't want to come here.
Jobe was 100% Banda.
Surtain was Rumph but even less of a chance than with Campbell.
Battle was Banda.
***an, wright, Gant were ALL Banda. As were Nunn, Brian Edwards and Stevenson if we miss in him.
Asante Samuel you can say is Rumph daily but in reality we just didn't want him until like a week before nsd. Brownlee was Rumph too.

So basically we have Rumph missed on the AH2, Henderson pulled a ***** move during an all Star game, and we had the worst season we've had in a decade which caused us to miss brownlee. That is the summation of Rumph missed

We didnt lose certain kids because of rumph. some we lost becuase they didnt believe in the program. also, brownlee, brian edwards, nunn, and some of those kids arent elite imo. either way, we HAVE to step up recruiting.
