Why do people say this? Yeah he did okay, but honestly every time I saw Ragone he was falling down and tripping over himself on the field. I don't remember any of the other LBs doing that?

According to Manny Brooks is still learning and since he is just now transitioning to LB it would be too much to learn multiple positions or something...
 
So if the redshirt rule applies to McCloud, like anyone else, and he's starting Saturday...........................................WHY THE **** DIDN'T HE PLAY AGAINST GT!?!?!?!?!?!
 
Serious question here: Is Manny playing walkons over scholarship players to use as an excuse at the end of the year about "depth"?

Even if it isn't a lot for him...You telling me Shaq can't slide to Will? The kid should know the whole defense (and I imagine he does) and put Brooks at Mike last week?

The staff probably figured they could get by with Ragone for that god awful GT team. Then roll mccloud out for for entire Pitt game.

Sadly manny didn’t realize we suck just as bad as GT.

You can’t. It’s a four year commitment to take a player. What do you do with the log jam when everyone is healthy and your scholly numbers are way off.

Lb numbers have been off for awhile. Me and @orange&green84 and others kept griping about there not being enough lb’s. The excuse was kids were saying no because of how awesome the true freshmen were in 16. Oops

Yeah, ok, Manny and his Staph of fools thought that far in advance don't try and put the best defense on the field you can in the game you're

playing, against a must win opponent when the season is going the way it is, prepare for next week.

First, while I understand that adjusting to a new position from high school was already difficult, so learning a second LB position was a lot for Brooks, do we not ask the same of some of our freshmen at other positions (like Jakai Clark at C and G, or Couch at nickel CB and outside CB)? This is especially true given the fact that we had all the injuries at LB and with the intent to redshirt McCloud. It's not like we had some loaded LB position where we had the luxury of bringing Brooks along slowly, we needed him to be able to go into the game at either position.

Second, if Brooks wasn't ready, then play him at MLB and move Shaq to play Pinckney's spot. Shaq is a senior and certainly should be expected to know both positions. For all of Shaq's limitations physically, there is absolutely zero doubt in my mind that I would rather play Brooks and Shaq than Shaq and Ragone. Playing Ragone in a close game should be a last resort, not the Plan B for the position.

Yep, should never had been in that position in the first place. Did they not think of the possibility Pink could get hurt and they might need a scholarship player to fill his spot if he went down. It's unbelievable how unprepared this staff is. It's amateur hour.
