We have two glaring balk holes at one DE spot (Harvey and Cam Williams, WTF?) and MLB that are so massive they create their own centrifugal force that could crush the entire team's aspirations.
Not having Cam was something we couldn’t afford.

I'm ready to let him start with a blank slate. He's playing a new position, he's up past 250 and we're short on bodies at de. We don't have guys that can play 60-70 snaps like Phillips and Roche. We have 4 guys who hopefully can give us 30-40 snaps and can improve as the season goes on. If he can give us 4-5 sacks and play solid against the run that's all we can ask. I'm hoping he's the 4th best de and Williams and Harvey can step up. If he's getting more snaps than those two it's on them to get better. I'm hoping to Roberts plays some de. He still doesn't look like a Dt. He's got some skinny legs compared to the rest of our dts. Thought he'd put on some weight by now but he looks like he's stick in the blisset zone

I know it’s one practiSe. But let’s not like we didn’t have Spring Ball & summer workouts. Manny also has a history of starting upperclassman. Just passing the time

I'm 100% supportive of McCloud. Just don't think the coaches should have put all their eggs in that basket because it's risky.

The guy we really hope has the lights turn on is Harvey. He has all the potential in the world. Not sure why he hasn't taken that step. Roberts is the other one I really, really want to see step up. Simpson has to turn these two into playmakers by hook or by crook. My money is on one of these two becoming the second starter ahead of McCloud.

I'm worried that D$ thinks Chantz may be too stiff, that is not a good observation coming from the team's #1 fan, and he thinks even less of McCloud.

I like the idea of a converted LB at DE. McLoud has the speed and physical gifts that translate to that position. He might surprise

I don't think they're putting all of our eggs in McClouds basket. We're going to play 4 guys minimum at de and he's one of them. If he starts it's because they trust him. Harvey is the guy who needs to step up. He probably has the best abilities to be a stud. Chantz might be stiff and not be great at bending around a corner to rush but not every de needs that to be productive. Joe Jackson and Chad Thomas couldn't do it either and they were still good. He's got power and he's got really good speed that Jackson and Thomas didn't have. I wouldn't be surprised if McCloud plays more than Harvey and Williams but as the season goes on they end up ahead of McCloud.

I wouldn't mind seeing some three man lines with our athletic dts playing de. A dline with nesta, jhh and Taylor or jhh,Taylor and Roberts wouldn't be bad once in awhile. We might have to try more three man lines if our production isn't up to our standards or if injuries rear their head

McCloud the person: I love
McCloud the LB: liability
McCloud the DE: unknown. This could very well be his position.

In either case, I wish him nothing but the best. He could’ve been real sour about how the scheme changed & took him off the field. He’s handled everything w/ great maturity. Now, if it shows he’s a liability at DE, then I will respect him for being a Cane, but can’t tolerate him being on the field majority of the snaps if it’s hurting the team.
Agree 1000%

Nobody is getting the playing time at DE that the guys last year got. Phillips and Roche played like 60 snaps a game. There’s going to be a lot more rotation this year. In part because nobody we have is as good as those guys but also because our second team guys are a lot more capable this year. I’ve said from the jump that McCloud was going to play even if he doesn’t start. I have no idea how productive he’ll be but he’s gotten a lot of praise and seems to be a better fit naturally at end than at linebacker. I would not be surprised to see him play 30 snaps a game and finish in the neighborhood of 5-6 sacks which is solid for a rotational lineman.

Won’t be surprised if mccloud and Johnson start against bama. 12/33 are just not ready yet from what I’ve seen and knowing the coaches, they would prefer having the experience line up. And oh yeah, mccloud isn’t all that bad of a DE

cause if he just started playing DE a few months ago and is already our starter than we are truly gonna suck at that spot and the people behind him stink, period. We better hope he has a good season as a backup but nothing else. If 2-3 years in the young guys can't beat him out then who the **** are we recruitng.

You have no idea what you’re talking about, as usual.

Hoping we get a surprise from Chantz or Harvey and they become our next JJ or Garvin. Getting a little worried about our pass rush from the outside
