There's many more than that too! (Looking at you, Pat Haden)

I wouldn't label Palmer a bust.

He was the #1 QB and recruit coming out of High School. He's had an avg NFL career based upon the hype he's had. He's had 2 good years w Cincy and two good years w AZ and it wasn't until his Sr year at SC where he finally broke through under Pete Carroll and won that Orange Bowl.

Amazingly retarded commentary regarding Palmer.

Lol, ur an idiot if u don't think Palmer has had an average career. He will never be mentioned among greats or top tier QBs and won't sniff the HOF. I didn't say he was bad, I said based upon his "can't miss prospect" label he had coming out, he still hasn't lived up to the bill. I stand by that. I'm from LA, homie, so I can unequivocally say for certainty that Palmer was grossly overrated. He's had the best career out of all the SC QBs drafted, but regarding his hype vs career, it don't equate.

Amazingly retarded commentary regarding Palmer.

There's not even 10 franchise QB's....that doesn't make everyone a bust.

Was those non 10 Franchise QBs rated the No. 1 prospect and can't miss? Come on, dog. Follow the story line. If Palmer was just a dude who happened to be listed as a good QB prospect, you would have no argument. Dude was literally billed as a "Can't Miss Prospect" and he's anything but that. He's shown flashes of his past potential, but he has not been a model of consistency and his career has been good/average, but not Program/Franchise changing as he was dubbed.

To each his own. I have numbers to back my statement and he's been a average to good QB in his career, not great, at all.

I think you need to define 'bust'.

Palmer was a top recruit and struggled on bad USC teams until Carroll arrived with Norm Chow as OC. The light goes on for the whole team, with great coaching. Was a rising star at Cincinnati until the knee injury against Pittsburgh. A bad elbow injury followed, and he later rightfully blew off a terrible Bengals organization. Played well for the Raiders, but they were another dumpster fire organization. Has a good spot in Arizona and has played well. The Cardinals have a good defense, and Palmer keeps the offense moving. Fitzgerald and the other WRs catching a lot of passes from him. He's at the age where he could retire, or play another year. I wouldn't label him a bust.

I don't think Eli Manning is a better QB than Palmer. Manning has two SB rings though, thanks to playing on better teams with good to great defenses. Teams that got on a roll a few times. A few losing seasons as well.

Sometimes players end up in the wrong place. Palmer's career is a lot like Vinny Testaverde's, top overall pick, played for a few bad teams, had some good years on a good team later.

Matt Leinhart, he was a bust. Could not adjust to the speed of the NFL.

Mark Sanchez, he was a bust. I thought he was overrated coming out of USC. He will never live down the 'butt fumble'.

Really appreciate your post. I liken Palmer's career w Reggie Bush's; not great, not bad, but pretty decent...enough for a pro bowl or two and a SB run. The reason y I mentioned Palmer as a bust is b/c of what he was labeled as v. what he has produced. Again, he's no where near the stratosphere of Leinhert, Marinovich or Sanchez. He's had some really good passing yards years, but avg. 19 TDs and 12 ints/season for your career is not overwhelming. But I will admit, labeling him as a bust in the sense of what we commonly define a bust is a bit harsh. I just followed his career a lot closer than a lot of QBs coming from Cali and was a tad disappointed in what I saw v. what all the experts predicted coming out.
