mauigoa to the rescue

It’s what they showed on tape all season. Pretty much consistently pinching, slanting, or stunting on most every down, out of every front. Sometimes it looked like watching a rex ryan defense from 2005. (Ok, maybe not THAT bad, but you get the idea).

We handled it better in our run blocking than we did in our pass sets. Not horrible in pass pro by any means, but not the effort the group is capable of.

The REAL issue wasn't Fletcher or Cici. The ball was snapped a little early. They ran a stunt and Cici didn't see the looping LB which was his to take most of the time. He was double-teaming the DE with Cooper. Same happened with Beck's TD, Cici was a little late but did make it to the looper. The difference on that play, Ole Miss only rushed 3 and #51 went to sleep.
Ah, so it was the complete miscommunication from the onset of the play (I agree), not necessarily Fletcher nor Mauigoa's fault (don't really agree or disagree here because again, we don't know who had what responsiblity).

Thank you for the reply.

What I see in that play is a defensive line that is so worn out by the Mauigoa, the rest of the OL and the scheme that the stunt is jogging to make the play.

That’s the thing. We don’t know the protections. I wish I did because that last drive was a clinic. Not saying the snap count didn’t throw it off but you don’t know who had who on that play. It seemed he snapped it early. But Fletcher may have been scanning pre snap to see who he had and if they came and missed it cause it was snapped too early. That’s why it’s hard to get young guys snaps on passing downs so they can see who can pick it up
