On with Big O now. "I don't think Miami wants to fire Al Golden. I don't think Blake James wants to fire Al Golden. I think the fan base is pretty split right now with the amount of young talent on this roster and incoming recruiting class providing a lot of hope. I think Al has to win the Coastal or it becomes 50/50".

I don't think Matt Shodell knows WTF he's talking about. Anyone who states that "the fan base is pretty split" has no clue about anything.
 
I believe him. They are hoping he can win the coastal so they won't have to fire him.

Wow, must suck for that guy to look himself in the mirror each morning and know that he had to suck 8 or 9 ***** every weekend in the athletic department to keep his press pass and 'insider info' hook ups.

For proclaiming themselves to be such a beacon for freedom of expression and liberal thought, the UM Admin does a mighty fine job acting like North Korean *****gots when it comes to athletics.
 
I don't think Blake James wants to fire Al, either. He just gives off this 'nerd at the jock table', sycophant vibe.
 
I just turned on to WQAM after reading this OP.
I just missed Shodell, but catching some of the follow-up comments from callers.
Apparently someone went at Don Bailey Jr because BigO and some of the callers are defending
him.
LOL.

This is why you root for losses, and you root for other ACC teams to win.

I truly believe they will retain him if he wins this god awful joke division. The school could not care LESS about being strong in football.
 
I literally do not personally know a UM fan that wants to retain Al Golden. That's a split fan base???? Talk about some serious propaganda going on there. The fanbase isn't anymore up the middle on this than a Jon Semerene kickoff.

The arguement was a caller called DBJ a homer and Big O said he has to as he works for the school and gets paid to be a homer.

This. Firing him is the last thing they want to do. Can you imagine the circus if hes fired and Butch Davis is once again not a legit candidate? You think its bad for Blake now..But Al isnt giving them much of a choice. We could very well lose the rest of our games. There isnt a "gimme" left on the schedule. We could easily lose to Vtech on Sat if these kids are not emotionally over the FSU loss AND if we dont have SColey.

To the point he made about recruiting, while I think there are some recruits who are going to come even if we finish 8-4/7-5 and Golden is retained. We are going to lose a good amount of recruits because the buzz around the program will be so bad. (Bruce and ARichards will be first to jump ship)..Just like we have the last 3-4 years. What who cares about that right about now?
