If these alleged "impermissible benefits" are substantial dollar-wise, and can be proven to have been provided by a booster or agent-type person, then that skews towards more severe punishment.

If the dollar amounts are not outrageous and the providers are not boosters/agents/etc, then it skews towards more leniency.

Methinks anyway.

It's all just guessing now, without all the facts.

The UNC case was an NCAA investigation and it hasn't gotten to that point here as far as we know. Six of those players were suspended for academic stuff not benefits as well

Understood. My post was more in reference to how many players are actually involved. NCAA isn't doing the digging. Until we're told otherwise this is an UM investigation where they either already have or will present their findings and punishments to the NCAA. The NCAA can then say whether they find the punishments doled out by UM substantial enough to let it go.

UM "sources" have so far mentioned four players being involved and one of them is long gone. The three other players mentioned have all missed practice time to deal with this. I haven't heard of anyone else missing time. The NCAA opened up an impermissible benefits investigation at UNC and then opened an academic misconduct investigation after sniffing around for a couple months. If this becomes an NCAA investigation my thoughts will start to fall in line with yours.

Their store has been closed for about 3 weeks or so (at least). It was located on 14th and Collins. Never had much business, they just would keep a Lambo an Audi and a Bentley parked on the street and some sketchy dudes would just walk up to you offering deals. Very unprofessional and did not seem like a serious car rental service despite these cars being extremely luxurious of course.

Worse case scenario, if the NCAA does get involved ,this could turn into an OJ type thing where OJ got 15+ years for a crime that normally got a slap on the wrist but they punished him for the prior crime where he got off scott free

This is no blessing in disguise. The players involved are irreplaceable at the moment and each was a leader in their respective positions. We also don't want the NCAA up our asses again. Hoping for the best and I am in no way comfortable that this is a situation that we will "skate thru". All the players are told what not to do as these actions could imperil their careers and UM which is on probation. Although the offense seems pretty trivial in nature this should had NEVER EVER had happened. Luckily Richt is in control and he is a proven CEO. Fingers crossed here boys.
