Matt Patricia: “we might have a few new things they haven’t seen”

Patricia has the nations #1 defense. His philosophy and scheme wont change. There is nothing they will run that is not on film. With whom he chooses to cover certain WR, will be revealed. But his scheme is his scheme. And Miami offense isn’t ground breaking and littered with Julio Jones freaks all over. Patricia thinks his scheme and talent are enough to be effective against Miami. Dont buy the coach speak.

I have my doubts about Dawson and this game will prove me right or wrong. If he gets in his bag like he did against ND (first half) or even '23 aTm we will win.
If he's tryin to force everything to Toney we're screwed. CJ and Marion have to get 10 total targets minimum

Dawson was never out scheming Patricia. Run the **** ball and take your shots with timing. Don't get cute in this one. We have to put physical them and hope to wear them down in the 4th. We can't turn the ball over. We are going to have to pass to keep them honest. Just don't get to cute with passing or trick plays.

Can’t certainly rely on trick plays or use them just to use them with no rhyme or reason, but anything that stresses or gets them to overthink on defense is an advantage to the offense.

But we do need to establish our physicality because no scheme works if your man is getting whupped

Both those games were the first game of the season. I don’t think Dawson will catch people off guard entirely, but he has been willing to implement new stuff this year after the disappointing losses so I’m not counting it out entirely

He is a Belichek disciple, who is notorious for cooking up individual gameplans they havent shown prior.. i dont think its out of realm of possibility with all the time off and chess pieces he has at disposal..
Don’t Hetherman and Dawson do this as well? Frankly, I do this in coaching middle school basketball. I would assume every college (and most high school) coaches do this as well.

Yea in regards to in general game to game they will have gameplan but still be in foundation.. Maybe its myth but belichek and crew were known to create gameplans or you will hear people mention making offenses play left handed, take away top target by doubling then have other locked up..

I believe the Belichek stories. As a fan of the Steelers, the Pats consistently beat Pittsburgh by forcing the Steelers to secondary options.

I just meant that I thought all coaches do/should do the exact same thing. I go into every basketball game planning to reduce the impact of the opposing team’s best player by attacking his weakness and making him do something he doesn’t want to do; even if it’s simple as make his use his 2nd best move. But it doesn’t always work. It seemed to always work with Belichek; cheating or otherwise.

Patricia was not part of this team, thankfully. We would've spent time sending three pass rushers on 3rd and 4 to prevent Jared Goff from scrambling for a first down.

Flores was the DC and playcaller. The stuff you see in Minnesota is the stuff we did then for two seasons straight.
