Matt Campbell article

Does he have a ruthless streak in him?

If so, he might be the second coming of JJ..... preparation and attention to detail, .... but

The difference between all the Foldens, Morks on one hand and JJ, Saban on the other is the ruthless desire to win... no loyalty to friend, family or player gets in the way..

Very impressed with his team the other day
even in a loss, hard nosed D, O looked pretty
good with some nice wrinkles and utilized
the few playmakers they had (the tall Wr and rb).
Also they were like top 5 in fewest penalties, so he
coaches a well disciplined team..

You sir are a smart man. Same thing I said he seems to be a good coach, but so did Golden and I think he is better than Golden. He is about 5th on my list, after the guys who we know are elite at the things we need.

Oh yea tell me moar...

5-7, 6-6, 9-4, and 8-4 in the MAC is the same as 3-9 his first year(only time under 7 wins) two 8-5 seasons in the Big 12 with wins over OU, TCU, Ok St, WVU. Oh and his worst lost in this 2 years being by 14 points to Texas. Oh and he already has had three Head coaches work under him...two of which are Jason Candle and Scott Satterfield.

I kinda like this guy but I think he is al Golden 2.0. Just to many similarities and we can’t ***** up anymore.

Iowa State opened up the books for his assistants too. At this point (4 consecutive poor hires) spending more on the front end will save (and make) Miami much more than going cheap.

Offer him 4.5 and the results will take care of the rest.

Even for only 2 years before he bolts to the NFL? Not saying wrong just asking.

What, exactly, is innovative about hiring Matt Campbell?

There is nothing special about his offenses.

And what make people think he can recruit?

... I’m not saying the guy can’t coach. But he seems a much better fit to replace Harbaugh at Michigan or Dantonio at Michigan State.
Two words. Jimmy Johnson.

Matt Campbell is like JJ. Big 12 guy at mid tier school that knows f..ing football. Bring this man in.

Do you believe Urban was a " fit " at Florida?

Urban Meyer was an innovative hire when Florida brought him in. People thought his offense was gimmicky.

That’s my point. Campbell’s teams don’t do anything special.

And he’s not know as some elite recruiter.

I get it. You like the guy. I liked Mullen. Maybe you’ll get your guy.

I’m just saying Campbell doesn’t move the needle on innovation.

And be careful thinking guys that are good at coaching underdogs can transition to coaching guys that think they should be the lead dogs. It’s a different skill set, IMO.

That's my fear... all pillars and folders..

Any candidate that shows up to the interview with a binder in hand should be manhandled and escorted off the premises immediately. Tazing and other non-lethal interventions should also be considered.

He played for the University of Pittsburgh too and then coached at Toledo...couple hundred thousand people there...not Miami but still a pretty big city.

I'm not saying he can't be successful, I don't know him personally to be able to say anything with certainty. It's just to me, after having watched the coaching failures at Miami, I see his lack of never having to battle for elite kids(nationally or SoFla) as a concern I have with hiring Matt Campbell. Especially since he has 100% been a Midwest guy.

No he’s not.

Jimmy Johnson had coached under Frank Broyles and Jackie Sherrill. They were coaching legends.

Y’all are trying to find a narrative to support the guy you like. If he gets hired, then spin this yarn. But Campbell has coached at Toledo and Iowa State.

Jimmy Johnson coached at Arkansas and Pitt when they were legit college powers.

If winning at Miami is the motivation and success he needs to make that move then I’d be okay with it.

Of course, I’d like a coach to stick around, but at this point all I care about is winning and winning now. I believe Campbell provides that opportunity.

Ok. I'll give you that. Not quite the experience. But he played at pitt and JJ coached at Iowa State too. So we got that going for us.

To be fair, Satterfield coached QB's under him for one season. And Candle played with Matt at Mount Union, and was hired at Toledo by Campbell's predecessor. I wouldn't count those guys as his disciples.

So we need a proven elite recruiter...name an elite recruiter that’ll take this job that hasn’t been fired.
