Matt Campbell article

What, exactly, is innovative about hiring Matt Campbell?

There is nothing special about his offenses.

And what make people think he can recruit?

... I’m not saying the guy can’t coach. But he seems a much better fit to replace Harbaugh at Michigan or Dantonio at Michigan State.

I've been keeping track of Coach Campbell ever since he was hired at Iowa St. And the one shinning diamond I noticed was his turning to an UNKNOWN 3-Star true freshmen early in the 2018 season. Well, this kid was ONE BIG reason why Iowa St. went on their winning streak and defeated two Top 15 BCS rated teams along the way.

The bottom line is Coach Campbell would KNOW how to put either the problem child or Williams in a position to SUCCEED! In other words, he SCHEMES to fit his QB's strengths and what not.

You have NO absolute clue! Do you? You said the same thing about Thee Pirate. Well have you ever been to DESOLATE SMALL TOWN Ames, Iowa???? Well have you? Ames is like trying to successfully recruit to UNKNOWN Pullman, Washington or cow town Lubbock, Tejas! dUh.

Interesting.

Let’s try

1) Winning his 3rd string QB two years in a row
2) beating top tier schools with 3x the talent he has
3) Actually playing defense in the Big 12
4) continually finding NFL guys despite being in recruiting purgatory at Toledo and ISU
5) Winning big and becoming ranked at a school that coaches don’t win big at or become ranked
6) Innovation doesn’t equal wins

I'm glad i'm not the only one who feels this way. I just don't think he's a fit for SoFla or Miami.

Who is anyone fooling with this "cultural fit" nonsense? Dudes named "Jimbo" and "Dabo" have no issues recruiting and developing "relationships" in South Florida.

And if those two dudes ain't textbook GOOD OL' BOYS. Then something is amiss in International enclave Miami. hUh.

You sir are a smart man. Same thing I said he seems to be a good coach, but so did Golden and I think he is better than Golden. He is about 5th on my list, after the guys who we know are elite at the things we need.

Because they think it requires a special “fit”. They quickly forget the greatest coach in our history was a hick from Arkansas(with all respect to Schnelly).

I'm not saying it takes a special fit. Some people just don't fit in certain places. It's about the individual. Al Golden didn't fit Miami. Based on all I've seen, I don't think Matt Campbell fits Miami. I've followed Campbell career because Im from the same area as him and played at Baldwin Wallace a couple years while he was at Mount Union. Just my opinion.

He played for the University of Pittsburgh too and then coached at Toledo...couple hundred thousand people there...not Miami but still a pretty big city.

Do you believe Urban was a " fit " at Florida?
