Marquise Lightfoot commits to Miami (calm down he’s not in portal)

Lightfoot needs another 10 lbs. Lightfoot and Lowe play 2 different ends. With the way Mesi is playing, it's very surprising to me how people keep going on about Lightfoot right now. He has great speed and motor. Their is a significant drop off in the 2's across the DL. He isn't on Mesi's level yet and may never be, but I hope he is soon. We shall see.

If Lightfoot adds another 10-20, j could see him getting the start at DE next year. It would be interesting to see if Pickett could play WLB since he doesn’t appear to be adding weight.
IMO Blount and Lowe are 1for1 replacements for Bain and Mesidor. Lightfoot will stay in his current role just with added snaps rotating with Lowe.

Yep. Booker and Lightfoot continue to develope and be those speed rushers. Got McConathy and Scroggins in the 2 Deep. I do expect 1-2 a portal additions on DL.

The weight is not as big of a factor as its commonly made out to be. Brian Burns, Jason Taylor, etc were successful being under 230. He will be ready to start next year and play opposite one of the larger framed guys like Lowe or Blount.
Bro what? Burns and Taylor have different frames than lightfoot, shoulders are more broad and have sturdier builds. Also, when were they ever playing every down DE roles at 230 lbs??

You mentioned we’ve seen no evidence of him not holding up against the run but that’s because coaches put him in on obvious passing downs — because he would be a liability against the run.

I love Lightfoot but he’s not going to be an every down DE for us at his size. Will certainly need to pack on some serious weight. I’d wager they likely portal a starting DE with grown man size.

I used to be in the camp that thought Blount was a DE. After seeing how big he is (he's gotta be 275+), he might be getting too big for DE.

Lowe in theory, is a replacement at DE but probably not next year.

At DT, I'm hoping we can convince Moten to stay with a nice NIL package.

We most likely need a DE and 1-2 DTs in the portal. JMO.,

Tbh I think ML basically took Lowes snaps, I think they wanted Lowe there for the size speed and power combo. Pause
Two different players. Lightfoot is playing a very special role that I don’t think any of our DE’s can do because of what he does in space. The play that he made in coverage on 4th and 3 was elite. His motor and versatility are different

Take away the giant shoulder pads and you'll see Taylor was about the same size in University. I think he was 240 with the Dolphins early in his career.

JT was 6'6, 244lbs at the combine. But either way, I don't see Lightfoot being an every down DE for us next year. And that's okay, he'll likely pack on more size and get increased snaps and continue focusing on what he does well which is getting to the QB.

Lightfoot is 230 he can gain 10 to 15 pounds in a year . Picket is the same weight . Just looked it il , it’s possible at least one of them can gain 10 to 15 pounds

He was 244 at the combine because Drew put him on a very high sodium diet to retain water and keep the scale heavier. The combine weight was on purpose for the scale if I remember the story correctly
