D$'s reports on him were nothing but positive. I assumed he was hurt. I assume D will give us an update.

Never underestimate athletes to realistically asses their chances of winning a starting role on a team. At some point it hits home, especially when you're getting jumped by lower classmen. Football is a fun game to play, but it sort of blows if you realize how far you're from getting PT and you're reduced to practice fodder. I'm not saying this is what has happened to Markeith, but this often the case with many and, regardless, I wish him luck and success with life if he's no longer with the football program.
I mean we've all been there, right?

I thought I was better than the starting FS at Uni (in England, so the standard is obviously terrible) as a first year. I thought it was just politics (he was on the committee), but at the end of the day the Head Coach kept picking the other guy and whaddayagonnadoaboutit.

I was absolutely there in high school. I was frustrated at not getting an opportunity to play and I was upset that certain players were getting PT because of politics and outright favoritism. It was true about the bias with other players, but I eventually realized and owned up to it this wasn't true in my case, especially when the other OLmen who played over me ended up playing at UM and other big time schools. I had nowhere the ability or size (pause) to match up with those blokes.

It reminds me of the day when Dyrail McMillan, who played alot during Butch's first year, quit because he was beat out by Edge. At the time McMillan voiced his displeasure over being supplanted, but I'm sure deep in his heart he understood why.
