If he has a similar stat line against Ohio state with curry and Jackson then I think he’s gone to the league. Every team has scouts at every playoff game most likely. Which is great for bell and our track record of development but is a bummer for next year lol

Is he really 24 years old right now? If that's right I have my doubts an NFL team would spend a top10 draft pick on a 25yo OT, and I love Bell.

I posted about him in the Fletcher and Toney return thread and while I hope he comes back I think it would be a smart financial decision for him to go pro if he has a 2nd/3rd round grade.

The potential to go round 1 next year makes the math a bit more interesting though, since 1st round contracts are fully guaranteed by rule.

If he got drafted #11-20 next year that's $18-24m+ (going off '25 draft scale so it would presumably be higher 2 years later) fully guaranteed over 4 years with the potential of 5th fully guaranteed year. 4.5-6m+/yr, which is a lot more than he'd get as a 2nd/3rd rounder this year (without any risk that any of the money wouldn't be guaranteed).

Part of my argument as to why he'd be wise to go to the league with a 2nd/3rd round grade this year is that he would be able to maximize his second contract guaranteed money, because he would be a year younger, if he showed out during his rookie deal. If he comes back and goes first round and shows out in years 1-3, he'll get his fifth year option exercised, and if he's really 24 now, he would be 30 when he hit free agency. Yes he'd make a nice chunk of change in the 5th year, but his earnings potential on his second deal at 30 vs 28yo would be substantially less.

I hope he comes back for selfish reasons, but not sure there is a slam dunk financial argument for him to return (unless he really does have a legit chance to be a top10 pick next year).

Bell will be 24 years by the time next season comes around. He needs to head to the league and get paid.

Or come back and make more here than on a rookie deal and raise his stock a little more.

This one will be interesting to see if he takes the NiL offer or leaves. Cant blame him either way he decides. Huge for the Canes if he comes back though. Replacing 4 of 5 starters is tough even in the portal world
