Mark Walton News

The crazy thing is his blood alcohol level was .06 according to the police report.

What is that like 2 beers? Sigh.

I miss the days where that would get you a phone call to have someone pick you up (or the police follow you home lol). Unnecessary.

Here's the bottom legal line regarding this type of DUI in Dade County- it won't even appear on his record as such if he's a first time offender. He'd go through whatever process they have setup regarding fines and alcohol education and it'll be busted down to a reckless driving. So we can all take extreme opposite views on drunk driving laws and moral stances on it but the actual punishment is basically just designed to funnel a lot of money into the system for a first time offender. So those that want to banish the kid for a first time offense should also base a little of their judgment on the actual legal penalty as well. That said, I have no idea how Richt will act as it was reported that he JUST stressed to the team that they need to act responsibly off the field.

Good post.

Walton isn't getting kicked off the team for this. Calm down everyone.

Yes he is....maybe not right away, but the stupid kid will do something else to get in trouble again.

He gone!

We're going to be so thin at every position (Thanks, Alfred.)that we're going to be forfeiting games the way things are going. Richt must be ready to tear his hair out with this bunch.

I hear what you are saying but strongly disagree. I really don't care but he put other peoples lives in jeopardy. So if he killed someone he would still be left on the team too? By not kicking Walton off the team he sends the wrong message. He just booted the kicker off the team for a DUI. Walton had a suspended license too which is unexcuseable. I'm sure Yearby, Chocolate, Gus, and Travis can pick up the slack. These kids need to know this type of behavior cannot be tolerated. Like you said, it's life and there is a learning curve. Putting him back on the team invites more trouble and certainly shows that Richt is not consistent. Having three kids from 22-29 I believe in strict punishment if the action warrants it. I could give a hoot if this was his first offense. MAKE SURE IT'S HIS LAST! THIS WAS A VERY SERIOUS VIOLATION and it shows lack of control, discipline, and values.

The scary part is I wonder how many of us have been legally over the limit leaving the OB or Joe Robbie Stadium? I have been guilty of it, so let's all just chill and let the facts come out.

Walton, imo, will be suspended for a couple of games and given a very, VERY short leash. If he messes up again, even if it's sneezing w/o covering his mouth, he'll be kicked off....but as for now, I truly believe he'll serve a two or three game suspension and be relegated to back up duty.

Dude shut the **** up, he's a first time offender and never really has been in trouble.

He will be suspended for the first two games plus the police pre trial thing? Plus other team level penalties (Running etc.) it will be severe enough to keep everyone happy while not hurting the team too much,

Semerine was a two time offender, so there is no precedent for first time offender

I tend to agree with this assessment.

Scores of administrators and coaches, including Harbaugh and Pinkel, have been arrested for dui/dwi. A college kid gets hit with one and morons think he should be booted. The hypocrisy is strong in this thread.

Nah, it was worse than being a two-time offender. He had a significant rap sheet.

We got some real drama queens on here, wow. Some of you just amaze me. If the charges stand as is, he will be given a short leash and suspended 2-3 games at most, probably 2. Get off your high horses.

On every issue the people of this country are figuratively crabs in a boiling pot.

hes an idiot, he's only 18, he should yes sir and no sir the police, the police are corrupt, etc etc....in my opinion everything being said is insignificant.

DUI/DWI and all variations are bogus and should not be enforceable. i mean, this is a law that punishes you for violating nothing but itself. No laws or civil liberties are broken, threatened or imposed on by a drunk driver. if a person is driving recklessly or speeding he/she should be charged as such but pulling someone over and imposing on their liberties because he/she may or may not get in an accident is just madness. it literally is minority report; where you are being charged before a crime is committed.

He chose to drink and he chose to make the bad decision of driving; DEFINITELY a bad decision but bad decisions are NOT illegal. i've had unprotected *** plenty of times and im sure many in this forum have as well. Bad decision but we all have a right to take risk until we impose on the civil liberties of someone else. the government shouldnt me checking to make sure we are all doing it right. No drunk drivers should be arrested until a real law is broken. You can argue he threatened the safety of the public, bu the public has no inherent right to safety - thats why cops patrol the streets.

Im sorry for making this political but it just always suprises me how we championed our wars with cries of "they hate our freedom" but we are so quick to give ours away at home. Also, funny how EVERY bar has parking lot...hmmm

Love everything about your post.
