Mark Walton News

This nonsense isn't necessary though. Even the supposed "adults" are ridiculous with social media.

Go back and look at Richt's history as a coach in Georgia. He kicked some great players off his team's for getting in trouble.

Walton is as good as gone. Luckily we have Gus and Yearby this year

Free Mark Walton

Sounds like a cry to free Nelson Mandela. He won't go to jail for this but he should be punished so he learns his lesson.
This is a very serious matter. I'm not going to post news clips showing how many lives are lost because of DUI's. They are too many to post here.
Football is God. Everything else is unimportant. SMH.

The players he kicked off the UGA team were multiple offenders.
As far as I (or we) know, this is the first time Walton has gotten in trouble with the law.

You don't normally get kicked off a team immediately unless it is very serious (murder, robbery, sexual assault).

I hope Mark Richt teaches this kid a big lesson and drops him from team. Obviously the idiots who think is a minor offense have never been touched by a loved dying because of some A hole who couldn't call a friend, cab, relative, or Uber. We will be fine w/o him. This is a really STUPID THING TO DO and there must be severe consequences. Please let him go Mark!

And where did you get 'this rumor' Mr. THREE POSTINGS???

Rumor is that he was impersonating a cop by pulling over a woman and he groped her. If true, he's done. Unfortunate, because another P5 school will pick him up, so we may as well just suspend him for a year and use his redshirt.

Was reported by Andy Slater per sources from WLPG. Just passing along any information available.

The inability of some to grasp the concept of consequences is astounding. All the apologist posters who think it's not a big deal to get a DUI should try making that case before a judge, see where it gets you. I suppose it's not a big deal if one is financially set and is in no danger of losing their job because they lack transportation, but I suspect a lot of the puppies here talking tough aren't in that category. For those the fun they had before the arrest is not going to justify the pain after.

More likely the tough guys will lawyer up and meekly do what their told. Those that don't can report back and tell us the total cost of their bravado.

The crazy thing is his blood alcohol level was .06 according to the police report. That's below the legal limit for those that are allowed to drink. The problem is, he isn't, and he was driving with a suspended license

He's a first time offender and let's not take the "holy" act here. I'd venture to say that the MAJORITY of all posters on this site have had a moment in their lives where they have been behind the wheel after having enough drinks where they shouldn't have been driving. Mind you, that's us as ADULTS. Walton is a kid who made a dumb mistake.

It doesn't make it right, but it doesn't mean the kid doesn't deserve a second chance. He's a first time offender. And before you go the "holy" route again...yes....I have had a family who's been in an accident at the hands of someone else who was driving drunk. I'm also guilty of driving home on nights I shouldn't have. And lastly, I also have a close family member who was arrested for DUI and another one for BUI.

It happens. You learn from it. It's called life. Punish the kid and make it a teaching moment...but you don't kick him off the team for something like this on a first time offense.

For DUI? Georgia only has a mandatory 2 game suspension for athletes arrested for DUI. The last 3 football players arrested for DUI under Richt were suspended for that amount.

His point is that threatening civil liberties is a foolish statement if no one is hurt. Its only a violation of an injury occurs. Until then, it's just potentialn

His point is well taken.

Same can be said for speeding, drug use, public smoking. Or worse, seat belt and helmet laws, where you are protected against yourself.

His point is so ignorant. According to him, it should only be a crime if the drunk driver kills someone or damages someone's person or property. That's absurd. Yep, let's just legalize drunk driving and watch as the number of deaths at the hands of drunk drivers skyrockets.

IMO he shouldn't be kicked off but it should be more than a two game suspension.

Driving with a suspended license is very bad also. The DUI will cost him a bundle & he'll have to jump through hoops to get it back between both counts; probably will take at least 6 months. He won't be thrown off team if this is a first offense (I think it is) but he'll have to hustle all summer to take the DUI classes, pay the lawyer/court fines, etc. and will probably be facing suspension in the fall for a few games.
