He would make are defense nasty. All business.
 
I think Stoops already makes at LEAST as much as AG, and is scheduled to make even more as his contract is structured.

This is the SAME issue we are going to have when we play this game of "OOH I want this coach". We cant afford most of them.

Why is Stoops going to take a pay cut to come here??

And PLEASE don't tell me its "so he can win at Miami with all the talent" because if that sh8t mattered, Al Golden and Randy Edsall would not have been the only finalists for this job last time. It was reported that Dan F8cking Mullen even blew us off last time. Schiano laughed in our faces and chose to stay at RUTGERS over coming here. As much as we love to think this is the GOAT HC gig, the rest of the coaching world obviously does not agree.
 
I say grab him before another school does. He's from a football family, and I'm sure he'd be able to put something together.

Al is a nice guy and all, but this whole, i'm sticking with my buddy crap, instead of lighting fires up his coaches pie-holes for results is wearing thin.

It ain't all the players faults.
 
the booster and alumni can raise money for this. If we got a coach we wanted. lets stop it. Kirby hired Al knowing the NCAA was happening and he figured this guy is coming from temple so he will stick it out.

Very high on my list, if not #1.

He would have the defense in the top 10 very soon after being hired.

Right, just like they raised the money for Steve Spurrier? Or Jon Gruden? How did we end up with Randy Shannon? Then the next search was down to Randy Edsall and Al Golden.

You guys still don't get it. This job, and this school will NOT pay top dollar for these big names.

Golden made 2.148 million in 2013, not sure what he is making this year.
Stoops will make 2.1 million in 2014 with a 100K increase the next 2 years.
 
If we continue to have to talk about money when hiring coaches. We will continue to languish in mediocrity. It's that simple. We either have to get retreads with a record like Butch or spend the money to get a innovative coach. We want A class dinner but getting McDonalds chef. We need to stop this lunacy. Coaches pay back their salary by winning and getting big bowl bids. We have decent talent if we waste it, we are going to miss out on the next generation of kids. It's 13 years since 01.
 
I'm a huge fan of Mark Stoops. Had some of the best instinctive DBs here and helped them to make the most of their talent. Aggressive coach. You know he's got the football IQ, and tons of experience to draw on in the family and from his own career. Plus, he was here when the U was for real.

I'd love to have him back as a head coach.

I thought the extension he signed last Spring put him up around 2.4-2.5 Million. I know its supposed to go up in 2017 another 100K. In either case, its still a lateral move at best. He has little expectations at Kentucky. Here, he will be run out of town on a rail in year 3 or 4 if he isn't winning 10 games a year. If he EVER won 10 games in Kentucky they will rename the state after him.
